Leopold Strauss envía a Arthur Morgan desde Beaver Hollow a cobrar dos préstamos pendientes. Arthur cabalga primero hasta Three Sisters, donde J. John Weathers reconoce que no tiene dinero y ofrece las provisiones de su carreta. Antes de que Arthur pueda decidir qué tomar, llegan soldados del Ejército de Estados Unidos buscando a Weathers por deserción. Arthur lucha junto a Weathers, mientras la carreta se incendia y las reservas para el invierno quedan destruidas.
Tras el tiroteo, Weathers llama a la mujer nativa embarazada que viaja con él. Arthur ve que la pareja ya no tiene nada y lamenta no haberlos ayudado simplemente a reparar la carreta. Weathers le ofrece un relicario de plata como pago. Arthur puede aceptarlo o perdonar la deuda, y le dice a Weathers que lleve a la mujer a un lugar seguro antes de abandonar Three Sisters.
Arthur va a la mina de Annesburg buscando a Arthur Londonderry, pero el capataz le informa que Londonderry ha muerto. Lo dirige a Sawbone Clearing, donde la viuda está con su hijo. Ella explica que su marido trabajó hasta morir intentando saldar sus deudas y que la familia está a punto de perder la casa. Arthur puede cancelar la deuda, con o sin darle dinero, y se disculpa mientras ella entra en la vivienda.
Avergonzado por el trabajo que Strauss le ha hecho realizar, Arthur vuelve a Beaver Hollow para enfrentarlo. Empaca las pertenencias de Strauss y le dice que no lo matará, aunque cree que debería hacerlo. Arthur condena a Strauss por aprovecharse de gente desesperada, le arroja dinero y le ordena abandonar la banda. Strauss sale de Beaver Hollow con su equipaje.

- ◆During Part VI, there are four bits of foreshadowing quotes that Arthur will remember during his final ride to camp in the "Red Dead Redemption" mission depending on his Honor.

- ◆If Arthur does not collect the debt after starting the mission for Strauss, he will confront Arthur for not getting the money then he will leave the camp because of their situation.
- ◆If Arthur kicks Strauss out at night, Simon Pearson and Susan Grimshaw will wake up scared and move out of the way as Arthur is pushing Strauss towards their beds where he packs his bag.
- ◆After completing the mission, Micah will scold Arthur for kicking Strauss out. Abigail, Jack, Mary-Beth, and Pearson will question about his disappearance, whereas Susan won’t question Arthur’s decision, stating that she understands. Sadie and Swanson would be glad that he is gone. Bill and Tilly will question Arthur if he will kick one of them out like he did to Strauss, to which Arthur will assure the latter that he will not.
- ◆If Arthur follows Strauss after being kicked out of the gang, he will see Strauss and his horse disappear instantly, leaving behind his bag.
- ◆If you are fast enough or use mods, you can kill Strauss and his horse, but doing so will decrease the player's honor by 50%. This is the only instance in the game where the player's honor decreases by such a significant amount.
