Andreas is a German immigrant who comes to America with his wife, daughter and son to work in the gold mining trade. The family speaks little English and lives a transitory life around Annesburg in Roanoke Ridge, New Hanover. Their camp is attacked by outlaws, who seize Andreas and hold him for ransom while his family is left behind.
Arthur Morgan and Charles Smith find Andreas in the outlaws' custody and free him. Arthur then takes the shaken gold dealer back to his family. Andreas thanks Arthur for bringing him home and gives him a gold bar. Arthur accepts the gift, but warns Andreas that the area is dangerous and tells the family to leave.
Much later, Arthur carries the dying Eagle Flies to the Wapiti Reservation after Colonel Favours shoots him. Once Eagle Flies dies, Arthur leaves the reservation, suffers a violent coughing fit and collapses. During his vision, Andreas and his family stand over him. Arthur wakes in Annesburg to hear Andreas and his wife nearby; she offers him a drink, but Arthur says he must go.
Trivia
- โThe PED models of Andreas and his family are reused in several pictures featured in the Grand Theft Auto Online update The Cayo Perico Heist that can be found in Juan "El Rubio" Strickler's compound, depicting his ancestors.
- โThis served as a subtle tie-in to the release of Red Dead Online 's Naturalist Role, as "El Rubio" is seen wearing a Legendary Beaver Flop Hat and other clothing options introduced with the update as hinted in one of his portraits.
- โAndreas' son wears a traditional Bavarian hat (an "Aschauer Hut"), indicating that the family stems from that region of Germany. However they speak standard German, i.e. German without any discernible accent that points at a specific region from which they hail.
- โThis could have been intentional by the developers, to make their German language easier to recognize for players.
