Angelo Bronte is an Italian businessman and crime lord whose influence reaches through Saint Denis, where he maintains ties to the police, Mayor Henri Lemieux and prominent citizens. He leads the Saint Denis Mob while presenting himself as a respectable man of wealth. During the gang's stay at Clemens Point, Catherine Braithwaite reveals that her sons gave the kidnapped Jack Marston to Bronte.
Dutch van der Linde travels to Bronte's Saint Denis mansion with Arthur Morgan and John Marston to recover the boy. Bronte mocks Dutch's attempt to appear respectable, then receives the men with polished courtesy. He refuses to hand Jack over immediately and offers terms instead. Arthur and John must drive grave robbers from the cemetery before Bronte will release him.
Arthur and John deal with the men at the cemetery and return to Bronte's house. Bronte keeps his word, and Dutch waits outside with Jack. On the journey back to camp, Jack recalls Bronte treating him well. He had a room full of toys, regular baths and spaghetti, and calls his captor "Papa Bronte" after learning Italian words from him.
Bronte later invites Dutch to Mayor Henri Lemieux's party. Dutch attends with Arthur, Bill Williamson and Hosea Matthews, and Bronte introduces them to Saint Denis society. He points out the powerful guests around them while needling Dutch with condescending remarks. Before they leave, he tells Dutch about a trolley station and gives his approval for the gang to rob it.
Dutch takes Arthur and Lenny Summers to rob the trolley station on Bronte's information. The expected money is almost nonexistent, and police arrive in force after Police Chief Lambert receives word from Bronte. Dutch, Arthur and Lenny escape the trap, but Dutch sees the betrayal as an insult that cannot be left unanswered.
Against Hosea's objections, Dutch leads Arthur, Bill, John and Lenny to Bronte's mansion, with Thomas helping them approach by boat through the swamp. They fight Bronte's men and Arthur and John find him hiding inside. His Mauser Pistol jams, John knocks him unconscious, and Arthur carries him to the boat. Bronte taunts Dutch after waking, so Dutch drowns him and throws his body into the water for an alligator. Guido Martelli takes over the Saint Denis Mob.

- ◆His name may be a reference to the real-life mobster Angelo Bruno, the boss of the Philadelphia crime family.
- ◆Bronte is a small city in Sicily, where, in the 19th Century, a riot happened in which local farmers killed many landlords. Since Dutch defines himself and his men as "simple country folk" during their first meeting, this foreshadows Angelo's demise at the hands of Van der Linde.
- ◆In status and action, Bronte seems to be based primarily on New Orleans crime family founder Charles Matranga. The earliest reports of the Mafia’s presence in New Orleans date to the 1860s. Violence between rival families escalated during the 1880s. By the 1890s Matranga's operations had become a major criminal force in the city and remained so for much of the twentieth century.
