Clay Davies

Clay Davies is an American horse trader who works with his twin brother, Clive Davies. The brothers obtain horses through theft and move them out of the state for profit. Clay is associated with Horley and the Red Dead Online protagonist, and operates with Clive around Lemoyne. Their trade makes use of animals that cannot be sold openly, while Clay is the brother who deals directly with many of the people bringing stock to them.

In Red Dead Online, Clay gives the protagonist their first job for the Davies brothers: stealing a horse from a nearby ranch. Once the animal has been taken, he says the brothers can handle further stolen horses later on. He gives the protagonist one of the stolen horses, presenting it as the beginning of future business between them.

In 1899, Arthur Morgan, Javier Escuella and John Marston bring valuable horses stolen from the Braithwaites to Clay near Clemens Cove in Scarlett Meadows. The theft has been arranged for the Grays, who promised the Van der Linde gang $5,000. Clay introduces himself and Clive, then offers only $650 for the animals. When the three men object, he raises the price to $700 and warns them that trying to sell stolen horses in town could get them hanged.

Arthur, Javier and John accept Clay's $700, and he takes the horses into his pen. Afterward, Arthur can bring horses to Clay for sale, with stolen animals bringing better prices than legitimately bought ones. Arthur later returns with Uncle after the pair rustle cattle from Hill Haven Ranch. Clay says he knows the cattle's owner and offers $50 because he must move them quickly, but agrees to pay Arthur and Uncle $100.
