Player notes
Harville Presley is a Valentine resident from a wealthy mining family. Arthur Morgan encounters him while searching the Saints Hotel for Karen Jones during "Polite Society, Valentine Style". Arthur can enter Presley's room and finds the man sitting on a chamber pot. Presley reacts angrily to the intrusion and orders Arthur out, while Arthur continues his search through the hotel.
After that day, Presley remains behind the door of his room at the Saints Hotel. Anyone standing outside can hear him moaning within, but the room is no longer open as it was during Arthur's search for Karen. He does not take part in the events unfolding around Valentine and the Heartlands, remaining an unseen presence in the hotel.
By 1907, Presley has turned room 2A of the Saints Hotel into his permanent residence. A newspaper reports that he develops a bowel illness after eating at a church potluck supper. He seldom leaves the room, despite visits from many doctors and specialists. The hotel places the room under quarantine and houses other guests elsewhere, away from Presley's continuing complaints.
Trivia
- โHe can only be seen during the mission "Polite Society, Valentine Style" and will be replaced with a randomized male NPC after, which the player is typically unable to see in normal game-play.
- โHe is described as "a Sisyphean warrior" in the credits. This is a reference to the Greek mythological figure Sisyphus, who was condemned to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for the boulder to roll back down again and again.
