Player notes

Harmon Thomas becomes sheriff of Scarlett Meadows in 1899, taking over from Leigh Gray. Based at the sheriff's office in Rhodes, he approaches the post with a stricter sense of justice than his predecessor and works to remove the Gray and Braithwaite families' influence from the town. He carries a Cattleman Revolver and a Custom Carbine Repeater while serving as Rhodes's lawman.

During the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, Thomas receives several bounty prisoners at the Rhodes jail. Mark Johnson, Robbie Laidlaw and Camille de Millemont can each be brought before him after their capture. Thomas treats the prisoners without leniency. When Mark Johnson is returned to Rhodes despite trying to leave his criminal life behind, Thomas has him publicly executed as part of his duty.

By 1907, Thomas is still sheriff and has gained a reputation for cleaning up Rhodes. Sadie Adler and John Marston deliver Ramรณn Cortez, a Del Lobo Gang criminal, to his jail. Thomas asks them to guard Cortez until his deputies arrive, but the Del Lobos attack and blast open the cell, allowing Cortez to flee. John and Sadie recapture him, and Thomas places Cortez in a jail wagon bound for Saint Denis, where he is to be hanged.

Trivia

  • โ—†Sheriff Thomas can occasionally be found acting drunk at the Rhodes Parlour House and the player can comment on his drunkenness. Antagonizing him will not result in a Wanted Level.
  • โ—†His presence here can notably allow an aggressive player to force him to flee, unlike other lawmen. If he runs close to horses during this, he will attempt to leave town on horseback.
  • โ—†This encounter can be experienced prior to the death of Leigh Gray, however, he still wears his sheriff's badge. This is likely a developer oversight.
  • โ—†Sheriff Thomas can often be heard talking negatively about Leigh Gray, likely looking down upon him due to his incompetence and corruption.
  • โ—†During the mission "A Quick Favor for an Old Friend", Sheriff Thomas can be seen using a custom Carbine Repeater with blackened steel, walnut varnish and a leather wrap, closely resembling Sadie Adler's Carbine Repeater.
