Porter family

The Porter family is a secluded clan of highway robbers and kidnappers living at Chez Porter, in Grizzlies West, Ambarino. Pappy leads the family, whose named members include Newt, Finney, Mal and Edie. They are hostile to strangers and speak a dialect that resembles English but contains their own words. Rumours also place a hidden cache of money somewhere on their land.

Javier Escuella hears of the Porters' treasure and brings the prospect to Arthur Morgan. Arthur doubts the plan, but Javier argues that Chez Porter's isolation makes discovery unlikely. They ride to the property and use the trees for cover, then hide beside a shed. From there, they overhear Pappy berating Newt before Javier prepares a diversion.

Arthur moves into position while Javier sets a hay bale alight. The Porters rush outside, and Arthur and Javier attack them. They kill the family members at the homestead, including Edie, who watches over the barn. Noticing their concern for the barn, Arthur searches it with Javier. They find a lockbox full of money, divide it between themselves, and ride back to camp.
