At the camp, Strauss asks Arthur to retrieve money from three debtors that owe him money. Arthur must collect debts from ranch hand Chick Matthews, Polish smallholder farmer Mr. Wróbel, and ranch maid Lilly Millet.

At Horseshoe Overlook, Leopold Strauss brings Arthur Morgan into his loan business. Strauss has three overdue accounts and wants Arthur to collect what is owed. He directs him to Chick Matthews at Guthrie Farm, Mr. Wróbel at Painted Sky, and Lilly Millet at Emerald Ranch. Arthur sets out from camp to deal with the debtors, choosing which lead to follow first.
At Guthrie Farm, Arthur finds Chick Matthews near his horse. A rancher points Chick out, and Chick immediately rides away. Arthur pursues him, brings him down with a lasso, and forces him to explain where the debt is. Chick gives up a map, saying he hid the money in a tree. Arthur follows the map and recovers Strauss' payment.
At Painted Sky, Arthur enters Mr. Wróbel's smallholding and demands the money. Wróbel understands little English, until Arthur names Strauss. Frightened, Wróbel tries to explain that he has nothing. Arthur throws him down and beats him until Wróbel permits him to take possessions in place of the loan. Arthur searches the house and takes enough to settle the account.
At Emerald Ranch, Arthur finds Lilly Millet arguing with Cooper, who has wasted her money. Lilly cannot pay Strauss and looks to Cooper, but he attacks Arthur instead. Arthur defeats him, and Lilly tells him to take the money from Cooper. Arthur searches Cooper and collects the debt, while stopping a witness from reporting him. With the accounts collected, Arthur returns to Horseshoe Overlook and puts the money in the camp's donation box.
Trivia
- ◆After recovering one of the debts and putting in the donation box at camp, Strauss asks Arthur to retrieve Thomas Downes' loan, initiating "Money Lending and Other Sins III". After doing this, the remainder of the debts collected will become part of "Money Lending and Other Sins II", even though it can be completed chronologically after the events of the third part.
- ◆If the player collects all three debts before returning to Strauss, then he will ask Arthur to visit Thomas Downes, but there will be no more debts to collect for this mission.
- ◆When talking to Strauss after putting one or more of the debts into the donation box, the cutscene can differ slightly in which Arthur's reaction to the stew he is tasting will change based on the state of the camp's food:
- ◆If the camp's food is poor, Arthur spits out the stew in disgust and a notification will appear telling the player to hunt better quality game.
- ◆If the camp's food is average, Arthur will dislike the stew and throw the ladle back into the pot.
- ◆It might take several reloads, but the witness you encounter during Lilly Millet’s encounter may spawn with a Crown Bucket Hat that can be stolen and kept.
- ◆The same witness mentioned above can be robbed for one of the five townsfolk needed in Bandit Challenge I. However, he needs to be stopped and robbed quickly, or if he runs too far from the ranch, the robbery will not count. A better way to ensure you get the "rob" prompt is to rope the witness, cancel, equip fists, and run up and grab him. This may also take several reloads to accomplish .
