Player notes

Arthur Morgan travels to Cornwall Kerosene & Tar in the Heartlands after John Marston asks him to secure an oil wagon for their planned train robbery. The wagon is meant to help stop the train when the gang puts the rest of John's scheme into motion.

At the Heartland Oil Fields, Arthur takes an oil wagon from the refinery grounds. He gets it clear of Cornwall Kerosene & Tar and heads away from the guarded works with the wagon that John needs for the job.

Arthur drives the wagon to Old Trail Rise and leaves it in position for the train robbery. With the oil wagon waiting there, he lets John know that it is ready.

Trivia

  • โ—†This mission is technically optional. If the player fails to complete the mission in the same day as "Pouring Forth Oil I", John will steal the oil wagon instead and therefore this particular mission will no longer be available.
  • โ—†There is normally a wagon on its own in Valentine that can be robbed and used for the mission. It is only guarded by a single guard making it easier to steal. It is, however, further away from the drop off point.
  • โ—†Despite the two wagons at Cornwall Kerosene & Tar being closely guarded, the wagon on the far right is fairly easy to steal if the player jumps over the fence, runs to the wagon, then drives away.
  • โ—†One must use extreme caution when stealing a wagon as the guards will open fire on Arthur. If too much damage is taken, the wagon will explode, destroying it and killing Arthur, thus failing the mission.
  • โ—†One safer method for stealing the wagon is to intercept the wagon leaving Valentine, but it may sacrifice the gold medal objective due to the extended amount of time it takes to reach the drop off.
