At Horseshoe Overlook, Susan Grimshaw tells Arthur Morgan that John Marston has been asking for him and is waiting by a tree.
Arthur meets John, who says Uncle has passed on a train robbery lead that Mary-Beth found while visiting Valentine. Arthur is reluctant to commit to it at first. John explains that an oil wagon could be placed across the tracks, forcing the train to stop, and Arthur approves of the plan.
Arthur agrees to locate a suitable oil wagon in The Heartlands, New Hanover. John rides for Valentine to gather supplies and pick up something for Abigail.

- โIf John is followed after the cutscene, he will travel to Valentine and stop in front of the Doctor's Office, and stay on his horse.
- โPlayers can get John's Cattleman Revolver early before starting the mission.
- โDue to the mission only being a cutscene, it can not be replayed.
- โThe subtitles say "Scarlet Meadows", despite the proper spelling being "Scarlett Meadows".
