El Standard Horse es un tipo de caballo grande, de capa baya, en Red Dead Redemption 2. Su diseño guarda cierto parecido con el American Standardbred, aunque el juego lo trata como una raza aparte. Tiene manejo Heavy y los valores más bajos de velocidad, aceleración, salud y resistencia.
Aparece en varias cinemáticas, en lugar de venderse en establos o entregarse mediante una actividad. En "Motherhood", John Marston cepilla a uno al comienzo de la misión, mientras que un cartero monta otro. También aparece en otras escenas de la historia, como montura de personajes del fondo o durante sucesos guionizados.
El Standard Horse se utiliza para escenas y misiones, no como montura habitual del jugador. No se puede obtener ni montar de forma normal. Durante "Motherhood", John puede cepillarlo y alimentarlo, además de saquear sus alforjas.

- ◆This horse was apparently originally intended to be used in place of the Raven Black Shire given to Arthur Morgan by Hosea Matthews during the mission "Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego" as seen in the Official Gameplay Reveal trailer for the game , but this model was removed from the game entirely in an update.
- ◆The horse can also be seen being ridden by Uncle during this same gameplay trailer.
- ◆Buell is also replaced by this horse in the trailer as well.
- ◆Internally, this horse is used as a sort of placeholder in many cutscene files and is typically replaced with another horse through a script. There are only a small handful of exceptions to this, leading to the horse appearing in the aforementioned missions.
- ◆There is also no compendium data as through normal means this horse cannot be studied.
- ◆Sometime after the 1.00 version, this horse's expressions were changed resulting in the horse looking generic as opposed to being a draft breed.
- ◆The horse will appear on the title screen being ridden by Arthur Morgan, specifically if the player has purchased Red Dead Online but not the game's Story Mode.
