Arthur encuentra a Javier Escuella y Charles Smith en Smithfield's Saloon, en Valentine, hablando con dos mujeres. La brusquedad de Arthur hace que ambas se marchen, y los tres se sientan en la barra a esperar a Bill Williamson. Bill entra poco después, choca con un cliente y le responde con un cabezazo. La ofensa convierte rápidamente el salón en una pelea.
Arthur se enfrenta a puñetazos con los clientes del saloon mientras Javier, Charles y Bill quedan atrapados en peleas distintas. Tras derribar a uno de los camorristas, Arthur acude de un lado a otro para ayudar a sus compañeros con sus atacantes. Tommy, el hombre más grande del saloon, baja de arriba y ataca a Javier. Otro hombre sujeta a Arthur, pero Arthur se libera y alcanza a Javier cuando la pelea se traslada a la calle.
Fuera, Arthur se enfrenta solo a Tommy. Tommy domina el inicio del combate, pero Arthur se repone, lo derriba y le golpea la cabeza repetidas veces contra el suelo. Thomas Downes atraviesa la multitud y ruega que perdone la vida de Tommy, y Arthur lo deja marchar. Dutch van der Linde llega con Josiah Trelawny, que ha encontrado a la banda tras buscarla en Blackwater y trae noticias de que unos cazarrecompensas retienen a Sean MacGuire. Charles y Javier parten para averiguar más, mientras Arthur debe asearse antes de reunirse con ellos cerca de Blackwater.

Curiosidades
- ◆Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin is heard in the bar in the background.
- ◆Despite being prostitutes, Anastasia and her friend can no longer be seen in Valentine after this mission.
- ◆If the player, for some reason, decides to go through the saloon's left-side window to start this mission, Charles' AI will become bugged, and he will become aggressive. He will start randomly attacking, and shooting NPCs, and while the mission won't fail, the player will be unable to continue with it due to his actions breaking the rest of its script.
- ◆It is possible to hit the people in the crowd when fighting Tommy outside, though this has no effect on the mission.
- ◆When the fight breaks out in the saloon, Charles can be seen throwing a chair. This is actually Benjamin Byron Davis (Dutch's voice actor) doing the motion capture for this. However, it is unknown why he took over for this particular scene.
- ◆Furthermore, Charles visibly tries desperately to hold onto Anastasia's friend as she and her try to leave. Players will note that this is very out-of-character for him as in addition to being a complete deviation from his usual stoic and introverted behavior, he never expresses any sexual or romantic interest throughout the rest of the game with the single exception of mentioning wanting to start a family in Canada in the Epilogue. However, the reason this happened is again because the person who usually did his motion capture was not the one doing it at the time; the one doing it was actually Bill's voice actor, Steve J. Palmer. The reason this occurred is also unknown.
- ◆Depending on whether this mission has been completed, there will be different dialogue during the interaction in Valentine with Thomas Downes.
- ◆Players can use the saloon to get a haircut before the mission by making the mission unavailable.
- ◆After completing the mission, a Blond Chestnut Belgian Draft will be hitched outside the construction site next to the general store, which can be taken. This can be useful for returning to camp if the player started "Polite Society, Valentine Style" immediately before and did not bring their main horse with them and chose to return the horse used to pursue Jimmy Brooks to its owner.
- ◆One of the girls Javier talks to and whom Arthur rudely scares off appears in one of the end credits scenes. She is shown interacting with Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham, who are likely asking her about the whereabouts of Micah Bell's killer.
