Bill starts a brawl in Smithfield's Saloon in Valentine as Javier, Charles and Arthur attempt to charm the locals.

Arthur trova Javier Escuella e Charles Smith allo Smithfield's Saloon di Valentine, intenti a parlare con due donne. I modi bruschi di Arthur fanno andare via le donne, e i tre uomini si sistemano al bancone in attesa di Bill Williamson. Bill entra presto nel saloon, urta un avventore e reagisce dandogli una testata. L'offesa trascina rapidamente il resto della sala in una rissa.

Arthur si scambia pugni con gli avventori del saloon, mentre Javier, Charles e Bill vengono coinvolti in scontri separati. Dopo aver messo fuori combattimento un rissoso, Arthur passa da un compagno all'altro per aiutarli a gestire i loro aggressori. Tommy, l'uomo più grosso del saloon, scende quindi dalle scale e attacca Javier. Un altro uomo afferra Arthur, ma lui si libera e raggiunge Javier mentre la rissa si riversa in strada.

Fuori, Arthur affronta Tommy da solo. Tommy all'inizio ha la meglio su di lui, ma Arthur si riprende e lo pesta nella polvere prima di sbattergli ripetutamente la testa contro il terreno. Thomas Downes si fa strada tra la folla e implora Arthur di risparmiare Tommy, e Arthur lo lascia andare. Dutch van der Linde arriva con Josiah Trelawny, che ha ritrovato la gang dopo averla cercata a Blackwater e porta notizie del fatto che dei cacciatori di taglie tengono prigioniero Sean MacGuire. Charles e Javier partono per indagare, mentre ad Arthur viene detto di ripulirsi prima di raggiungerli vicino a Blackwater.

Curiosità

  • ◆Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin is heard in the bar in the background.
  • ◆Despite being prostitutes, Anastasia and her friend can no longer be seen in Valentine after this mission.
  • ◆If the player, for some reason, decides to go through the saloon's left-side window to start this mission, Charles' AI will become bugged, and he will become aggressive. He will start randomly attacking, and shooting NPCs, and while the mission won't fail, the player will be unable to continue with it due to his actions breaking the rest of its script.
  • ◆It is possible to hit the people in the crowd when fighting Tommy outside, though this has no effect on the mission.
  • ◆When the fight breaks out in the saloon, Charles can be seen throwing a chair. This is actually Benjamin Byron Davis (Dutch's voice actor) doing the motion capture for this. However, it is unknown why he took over for this particular scene.
  • ◆Furthermore, Charles visibly tries desperately to hold onto Anastasia's friend as she and her try to leave. Players will note that this is very out-of-character for him as in addition to being a complete deviation from his usual stoic and introverted behavior, he never expresses any sexual or romantic interest throughout the rest of the game with the single exception of mentioning wanting to start a family in Canada in the Epilogue. However, the reason this happened is again because the person who usually did his motion capture was not the one doing it at the time; the one doing it was actually Bill's voice actor, Steve J. Palmer. The reason this occurred is also unknown.
  • ◆Depending on whether this mission has been completed, there will be different dialogue during the interaction in Valentine with Thomas Downes.
  • ◆Players can use the saloon to get a haircut before the mission by making the mission unavailable.
  • ◆After completing the mission, a Blond Chestnut Belgian Draft will be hitched outside the construction site next to the general store, which can be taken. This can be useful for returning to camp if the player started "Polite Society, Valentine Style" immediately before and did not bring their main horse with them and chose to return the horse used to pursue Jimmy Brooks to its owner.
  • ◆One of the girls Javier talks to and whom Arthur rudely scares off appears in one of the end credits scenes. She is shown interacting with Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham, who are likely asking her about the whereabouts of Micah Bell's killer.
