Après Pulling Favors, Hao ouvre à Franklin Clinton une série de courses de rue nocturnes. Entre 20:00 et 05:00, Franklin retrouve les coureurs au départ indiqué, prend place dans un véhicule admissible et s'aligne face aux autres pilotes. La première épreuve, Shift Work, débute sur Forum Drive, à Chamberlain Hills, où Franklin affronte Hao et les autres concurrents sur deux tours.
Une victoire déclenche un SMS de Hao indiquant le prochain point de rendez-vous. City Circuit commence sur Clinton Avenue, à Downtown Vinewood, et traverse le nord et l'ouest de Los Santos en un seul tour. Airport débute près du terminal de Los Santos International Airport et emmène Franklin à travers le sud de Los Santos sur deux tours. Freeway suit, empruntant Olympic Freeway, Del Perro Freeway et leurs bretelles sur deux tours.
La dernière course de Hao commence sur Invention Court, à Vespucci Canals. Franklin passe à moto pour cette épreuve de deux tours, qui traverse Vespucci et Del Perro. La série s'achève à Vespucci Canals.
Anecdotes
- ◆If the player has participated in any of Hao's races before completing the mission Father/Son, he will comment on Franklin's victory or loss as the player enters Los Santos Customs.
- ◆Alternatively, if the player has not done any of the races prior to that mission, Hao will encourage Franklin to sign up for the races.
- ◆The events of the Shift Work race are briefly mentioned by Hao in the Los Santos Tuners update. It is also mentioned that Hao ended up on third place in that race.
- ◆If the Strangers and Freaks mission Shift Work is replayed, there will be a red Ruiner parked nearby as a default car ready to be used, though the player still can use any other vehicle of their choice for the race. The Ruiner may spawn with either a covered or glass roof.
- ◆If the player approaches a race gathering and decides to steal one of the cars, the race will be dismissed and the other contestants will usually run off scared.
- ◆If the player acquires a wanted level for any reason during a race, the ongoing race will be aborted. This will be counted as a race loss.
- ◆Cars driven by NPC racers include: the Banshee, Feltzer, Sentinel XS, Prairie, and Dominator. These cars often have modifications such as roll cages and spoilers.
- ◆If the player is registered as a Rockstar Games Social Club member, there is a chance of at least one NPC racer driving an Elegy RH8.
- ◆Race meet locations may show a parked 9F.
- ◆At the beginning of each race, the car's radio will always be tuned into Soulwax FM.
- ◆The track layout of the Freeway race is shaped like a penis. This is another example of a sexual innuendo made by Rockstar.
- ◆Although these races are exclusive to Franklin, the Offroad Races and Sea Races are available to all three protagonists.
