Player notes

After Pulling Favors, Hao opens a series of nighttime street races for Franklin Clinton. Between 20:00 and 05:00, Franklin meets the racers at the marked start, enters an eligible vehicle and lines up against the other drivers. The first event, Shift Work, begins on Forum Drive in Chamberlain Hills, where Franklin races Hao and the field over two laps.

A win brings a text from Hao with the next meeting point. City Circuit starts on Clinton Avenue in Downtown Vinewood and runs through northern and western Los Santos in a single lap. Airport begins near the Los Santos International Airport terminal and takes Franklin around southern Los Santos for two laps. Freeway follows, using the Olympic Freeway, the Del Perro Freeway and their ramps over two laps.

Hao's final race starts on Invention Court in Vespucci Canals. Franklin switches to a motorcycle for this two-lap event, racing through Vespucci and Del Perro. The series ends at Vespucci Canals.

Trivia

  • โ—†If the player has participated in any of Hao's races before completing the mission Father/Son, he will comment on Franklin's victory or loss as the player enters Los Santos Customs.
  • โ—†Alternatively, if the player has not done any of the races prior to that mission, Hao will encourage Franklin to sign up for the races.
  • โ—†The events of the Shift Work race are briefly mentioned by Hao in the Los Santos Tuners update. It is also mentioned that Hao ended up on third place in that race.
  • โ—†If the Strangers and Freaks mission Shift Work is replayed, there will be a red Ruiner parked nearby as a default car ready to be used, though the player still can use any other vehicle of their choice for the race. The Ruiner may spawn with either a covered or glass roof.
  • โ—†If the player approaches a race gathering and decides to steal one of the cars, the race will be dismissed and the other contestants will usually run off scared.
  • โ—†If the player acquires a wanted level for any reason during a race, the ongoing race will be aborted. This will be counted as a race loss.
  • โ—†Cars driven by NPC racers include: the Banshee, Feltzer, Sentinel XS, Prairie, and Dominator. These cars often have modifications such as roll cages and spoilers.
  • โ—†If the player is registered as a Rockstar Games Social Club member, there is a chance of at least one NPC racer driving an Elegy RH8.
  • โ—†Race meet locations may show a parked 9F.
  • โ—†At the beginning of each race, the car's radio will always be tuned into Soulwax FM.
  • โ—†The track layout of the Freeway race is shaped like a penis. This is another example of a sexual innuendo made by Rockstar.
  • โ—†Although these races are exclusive to Franklin, the Offroad Races and Sea Races are available to all three protagonists.
