Player notes
After Trevor Philips completes Fair Game for Cletus Ewing, Hunting becomes available in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness. During daylight hours, Trevor goes to the hunting trailer in the wilderness to begin a session. He changes into his hunting outfit and receives access to Cletus's animal call and a Sniper Rifle with unlimited ammunition for the hunt. A Blazer is parked outside the trailer for travelling across the wilderness.
Trevor tracks wildlife through the hunting grounds, using the call to draw animals out while keeping downwind so they do not catch his scent. Elk, coyotes, boars, cougars and birds can be hunted there. Cletus pays according to the animal and the manner of the kill, with careful shots to an elk's heart, neck or head worth more than poorly placed shots. Trevor can also pursue Master Hunter, Weapon Master and Nature Photographer challenges during a hunt.
After each kill, Trevor photographs the carcass with his phone and sends the image to Cletus. Cletus replies with payment, while other phone contacts may react to the photographs. As daylight ends, Cletus sends Trevor a warning that the session is nearly over, then tells him that hunting has finished for the day. Trevor returns to the trailer in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness.
Trivia
- โIn the Ammu-Nation in San Andreas the player can hear the advertising speaker talk about anti-materiel rifles for hunting with the famous punchline: "You don't need to clean the deer when it's already been minced!".
- โAs in Red Dead Redemption, using very powerful weapons such as the rocket launcher or minigun may damage the animal so one couldn't skin it. Even if the animal can still be pictured, Cletus will pay much less if powerful weapons are used (except in the case of heart shots).
- โAlthough Cletus may ask Trevor if he can kill a female deer, he will still remind him not to kill any if a picture of a dead one is sent to him, and will tell Trevor to consider himself lucky in regards to his payment.
- โOne can send the photographed kill to almost anyone in the protagonist's contacts list on the cellphone, and they will text back. Depending on the contact, the responses are either specific from the character, or randomized, generic ones.
- โPossibly due to a designer oversight, this works even if the person is dead.

- โEither way, no hunting challenges will be completed, no medals will be awarded, no money will be made, and Trevor's ranks won't advance.
- โAfter a hunting session is completed, Trevor can call Cletus, and Cletus will refer to Trevor as his "meat partner", adding that he bagged a good meat supply thanks to Trevor's help. Trevor will tell Cletus that he's helping out the "organic food movement". Impressed, Cletus will tell Trevor to hunt more animals.
- โIf the picture of the dead animal is taken and sent to Cletus while Trevor is using a vehicle (such as the Blazer next to the trailer), that will also count.
- โIf Something Sensible (option A) is completed, this activity will be permanently unavailable.
- โIt is possible to access Fort Zancudo without getting an instant wanted level of four stars.
