L'American Standardbred est une race de cheval de course de taille moyenne dans Red Dead Redemption 2. Construit pour la course, il possède une silhouette agile et des jambes puissantes. Sa maniabilité Race le rend rapide et maniable, et il échange généralement une santé et une endurance plus faibles contre une vitesse supérieure avec une accélération modérée. Parmi les chevaux de course, il se distingue davantage par sa vitesse que par sa robustesse.
Les American Standardbred apparaissent à l'état sauvage comme chevaux temporaires. Des spécimens Buckskin et Black peuvent être trouvés au nord de Cumberland Forest dans New Hanover, au nord-est de Big Valley dans West Elizabeth, et autour de Mercer Station dans New Austin. La race existe avec les robes Black, Buckskin, Palomino Dapple et Silver Tail Buckskin. La robe Black ne présente aucune marque.
Sean MacGuire monte un American Standardbred Silver Tail Buckskin nommé Ennis, qui reste au camp du gang en 1899. Durant l'épilogue, un cheval ressemblant à Ennis est vendu chez A. Aitken Livery & Stable à Tumbleweed. Une cavalière sur la jument Black Ariel peut défier le joueur à des courses lors d'une rencontre récurrente, et Ariel peut être récupérée ensuite. Dans Red Dead Online, Horley monte un unique American Standardbred Light Buckskin.

- ◆The Black American Standardbred has no markings and is the only horse in the game to share an exact coat color and breed from Red Dead Redemption.
- ◆The Palomino Dapple has four socks and a star and stripe, in addition to a mane and tail that has not been bleached by the sun.
- ◆The Silver Tail Buckskin is a buckskin with four socks, dappling, a blaze, and blue eyes. The particular color shade used by the game is not seen on any real-world buckskins.
- ◆The Buckskin has a star and stripe with an oddly darker face than the rest of the body due to sharing a texture with roans, although this is evidently not a roan.
