Lamar Davis porta con sé Chop, il suo Rottweiler, quando lui e Franklin Clinton partono per catturare il membro dei Ballas D. Dopo che D distrugge la sua motocicletta e fugge a piedi, Franklin segue Chop attraverso Strawberry. La prospettiva passa a Chop mentre rintraccia D con l'olfatto. Chop si distrae brevemente, ma raggiunge D e lo tiene fermo finché Franklin e Lamar non lo costringono a salire sul loro furgone. Lo rilasciano quando Lamar rischia di farsi scoprire, poi Lamar lascia Chop alle cure di Franklin.

Chop si trasferisce nella casa di Franklin, la Clinton Residence a Vinewood Hills, dove Franklin concorda che sarà più al sicuro. Sebbene Lamar rimanga inizialmente il suo padrone, Chop diventa il compagno abituale di Franklin. Franklin può portarlo in giro per Los Santos, lanciargli una palla da riportare e farlo salire in auto, dove occupa il sedile del passeggero. Chop difende Franklin dalle persone che lo attaccano e può essere chiamato a cercare persone o oggetti nascosti. Appare anche durante Caida Libre.

Più tardi, Chop viaggia con Franklin, Lamar e Trevor fino a Grove Street per l'incontro con i Ballas in Hood Safari. Quando l'affare degenera in una sparatoria che coinvolge i Ballas e gli agenti di polizia, Franklin ordina a Chop di tornare a casa. Chop lascia lo scontro e rientra alla Clinton Residence. In Predator, si unisce a Franklin nella ricerca dei fratelli O'Neil sopravvissuti nel bosco. La prospettiva passa di nuovo a Chop mentre segue la pista di Elwood O'Neil, permettendo a Franklin di trovare e uccidere Elwood prima che possa sparare un RPG contro il Frogger di Trevor.

Nel 2021, Chop vive ancora con Franklin, che ormai è considerato il suo padrone. Più vecchio e più grigio attorno al muso e agli occhi, trascorre del tempo al quartier generale della F. Clinton and Partner durante The Contract. Franklin dice che non si muove più molto, ma Chop si unisce comunque a Franklin e Lamar durante Short Trip - Seed Capital. Morde un membro dei Vagos e li guida verso il magazzino. Rimane all'agenzia, dove può riposare vicino a Franklin e ricevere attenzioni dai visitatori.

◆A plushie of Chop was made available in a on September 27, 2013, and in a on October 30, 2013. It was later for purchase on the 5th of December.
◆Chop is the first non-human character in the series to play a main role.
◆Strangely, Chop has his own phone number and contact photo in the game files, though they are unused in-game.
◆As seen in several screenshots, Chop's collar was originally brown and pink.
◆In The Contract update for GTA Online, Chop may be seen with either of these collars, alongside a new black one.
◆Chop's appearance has been aged up significantly in the aforementioned update. Considering this DLC is set 8 years after GTA V, Chop has become very old for his species. Rottweilers have an average lifespan of 8–10 years, but can live to be a couple of years older.
◆Chop's signature color is red, as seen when switching to him in Chop and Predator. The PS4 controller light and character wheel background color will switch to red when "playing" as him.
◆However, on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, Chop's character wheel background color is green like Franklin's.
◆Chop, like all the other animals and dogs, can be shot (only by enemies or cops), killed and run over. Chop doesn't die permanently though, since he always respawns at Franklin's home if Franklin returns after Chop's 'death'. Killing him decreases his happiness completely.
◆Chop is seen to be a very instinctual animal, as seen in the mission Chop, in which he crudely engages in sexual intercourse with another male dog, much to Franklin's chagrin.
◆According to Lamar Davis' Lifeinvader page, Chop was also caught having sex with a cat. However, this may have been a joke on Lamar's part.
◆If Franklin gets into a Fieldmaster while walking Chop, he will order Chop to follow the "bike". This is most likely caused by a developer's oversight.
◆If a vehicle is driven into the water while Chop is in it, he will immediately leave the vehicle and die suddenly. The only time Chop moves across water is the mission Predator, where he swims across the creek with Franklin while chasing the O'Neil brothers.
◆When listening to the radio, if Franklin switches the radio to Blaine County Radio, West Coast Talk Radio, WorldWide FM, or Rebel Radio, Chop will bark a lot more often than when listening to music stations.
◆Chop's dialogue in missions is subtitled as "Woof".
◆It is not possible to bail out of a moving vehicle while Chop is riding as passenger, instead resulting in bringing the vehicle to a complete stop no matter how fast the player is driving.
