Il Sawed-Off Shotgun è un fucile a pompa Shrewsbury presente in Grand Theft Auto V, chiamato anche Sawn-Off Shotgun o Sawnoff Shotgun. È un'arma compatta e accorciata, con castello e impugnatura simili a quelli del Pump Shotgun. La canna modificata, il tubo serbatoio e l'astina di pompaggio lo distinguono da quell'arma, insieme alla finitura grigia, alle mire metalliche diverse e all'assenza dello scudo termico, del calcio posteriore e delle guide dell'astina del Pump Shotgun.
Classificato tra i fucili a pompa, il Sawed-Off Shotgun ha un valore di danno pari a 96, con valori bassi per cadenza di fuoco, precisione e gittata. Possiede il danno più alto per pallino della sua categoria, risultando particolarmente letale quando diversi pallini colpiscono a distanza ravvicinata. La sua portata ridotta lo rende meno affidabile contro bersagli a media distanza, dove armi con maggiore cadenza di fuoco e fucili a pompa dalla gittata superiore hanno il vantaggio.
L'arma ha un caricatore da dieci colpi e non può montare accessori. Costa $800. La sua forma compatta ne consente inoltre l'uso nei drive-by da alcune motociclette. - ◆As its name implies, the Sawn-Off Shotgun is usually produced by home-made modification of a standard shotgun. In countries where firearms and ammunition are rare due to legal restrictions or high price, criminals are known to convert legal or stolen hunting weapons into concealable weapons, even modifying non-firearm weapons such as air guns.
- ◆However, sawn-off shotguns are not always home-made, as they will be individually produced by factories as well. Also, unlike the sawn-off shotguns portrayed in-game, factory-made examples do not compromise their overall range or effectiveness, and are mostly on par with their full-sized counterparts.
- ◆The weapon also makes an appearance in , and , other games by Rockstar Games.
- ◆In the enhanced version, when viewed in First-Person View, the markings on the gun read "2G Paspe", which could be interpretated as "2 gauge". Theoretically, a 2-gauge shell would require a 2-inch-diameter (51 mm) bore. Weapons like the punt gun have this kind of cartridge. It is probably a developer mistake or that it is supposed to be "12 gauge" (with the "1" apparently hidden by the weapon's bolt/rivet).
- ◆In the original (PS3/Xbox 360) editions of the game, it is possible to use this weapon for drive-bys in a Bus. It is unknown whether this is intentional or the result of a bug, as it is the only large vehicle where this is possible. This feature was removed in the enhanced editions.
- ◆In GTA Online, as part of The Diamond Casino & Resort update, the player can buy the "Is It Quiet?" painting for the Master Penthouse, which depicts a Sawn-Off Shotgun similar to previous renditions, but much realistic. The Swedish text "Detta är inte en hagelgevär" roughly translates to "This is not a shotgun". This is a reference to René Magritte's The Treachery of Images, a painting of a pipe with the text "Ceci n'est pas une pipe", the French for "This is not a pipe".
