John trova Jack che legge un libro d'avventura sotto un albero a Beecher's Hope. Jack gli racconta del suo coraggioso cacciatore, un uomo che dà la caccia a coloro che hanno ucciso suo padre. John si offre di insegnare al figlio come seguire le tracce e cacciare un alce, e Jack accetta di uscire a cavallo con lui.
John e Jack montano in sella insieme a Rufus e seguono il cane fino a Tall Trees. Rufus fiuta le tracce di un alce e li conduce fino all'animale. John uccide l'alce, poi lo scuoia spiegando il lavoro a Jack. Proseguono finché Rufus non trova un altro alce, dando a Jack l'occasione di abbatterlo e scuoiarlo da solo.
Con la carne e le pelli caricate, John porta Jack al negozio di Manzanita Post. Vendono ciò che hanno ricavato dagli alci, poi lasciano la città con Rufus. Padre e figlio cavalcano di nuovo attraverso West Elizabeth e fanno ritorno a Beecher's Hope.
Curiosità
- ◆When the player reaches the Epilogue and skins an animal as Jack, he'll occasionally say the line, "Just like you showed me, Pa," referring to this mission in particular.
- ◆The book Jack is reading can be seen as a reference to Red Dead Revolver and foreshadowing to the Stranger side-mission "Remember My Family", as Jack says it's about " how this man, this brave man, hunts the man who killed his father ".
- ◆Although it appears that Jack did not finish skinning the downed elk, the corpse afterwards is the same as the elk John skins.
- ◆This is the only storyline mission which involves the hunting activity.
