Un telegramma di Bonnie MacFarlane arriva a Beecher's Hope. Abigail, incapace di leggerlo, chiede a John di leggerglielo ad alta voce. Bonnie dice che i parassiti hanno divorato il raccolto di MacFarlane's Ranch e chiede con urgenza del mais. Abigail fa notare che Uncle ha trascurato i sacchi di mais a Beecher's Hope, lasciandoli come le uniche provviste non portate via mentre la famiglia era assente. Fa caricare a John il mais su un carro per Bonnie.
Abigail insiste per accompagnare John a MacFarlane's Ranch. Mentre guida il carro attraverso West Elizabeth e oltrepassa Thieves' Landing, lo incalza su Bonnie e sulla loro storia. John riconosce la sua gelosia, mentre Abigail sostiene che Bonnie appartenga alla vita passata di cui John si rifiuta di parlare. Lui le dice che Bill, Javier e Dutch sono morti e che la sua vecchia banda è finita. Arrivano a MacFarlane's Ranch con il mais.
Bonnie li incontra fuori dal ranch. Abigail e Bonnie vengono presentate, e il loro primo scambio, inizialmente guardingo, diventa cordiale. - ◆This mission's name is a reference to the second mission of the story, "New Friends, Old Problems".
- ◆In the cutscene in which Amos passes Bonnie when heading to the General Store, he greets her by saying "Ma'am". However the subtitles say "Howdy, miss".
- ◆This was fixed in the Game of the Year Edition.
- ◆Instead of taking the marked route through Thieves Landing, the player can drive the wagon past The Pacific Union Railroad Camp and drive through the river at Montana Ford and make to Bonnie's ranch in half the time.
- ◆John's line "Bill, Javier, Dutch. They're all dead. It don't get more over than that." confirms Javier Escuella's death even if John spares him in "The Gates of El Presidio", implying that he was indeed executed for his crimes sometime before this mission.
- ◆This mission marks Bonnie MacFarlane's final in-game and chronological appearance.
- ◆On the way to the MacFarlane's Ranch, Abigail tells John, "A family that left you for dead. You knew the truth, John, and they hated you for it," referring back to his involvement with the gang before their departure. This moment echoes when John returned to camp in the prequel, determined to confront Dutch and the gang in "Red Dead Redemption".
