Player notes
A telegram from Bonnie MacFarlane arrives at Beecher's Hope. Abigail, unable to read it, asks John to read it aloud. Bonnie says pests have consumed MacFarlane's Ranch's harvest and urgently asks for corn. Abigail notes that Uncle has neglected the corn sacks at Beecher's Hope, leaving them as the only supplies not taken while the family was away. She has John load the corn into a wagon for Bonnie.
Abigail insists on accompanying John to MacFarlane's Ranch. As he drives the wagon through West Elizabeth and past Thieves' Landing, she presses him about Bonnie and their history. John recognizes her jealousy, while Abigail argues that Bonnie belongs to the former life John refuses to discuss. He tells her that Bill, Javier and Dutch are dead, and that his old gang is finished. They reach MacFarlane's Ranch with the corn.
Bonnie meets them outside the ranch. Abigail and Bonnie are introduced, and their guarded first exchange becomes cordial. John joins Trent Oxley in unloading the sacks of corn from the wagon. Bonnie watches from the road as John and Abigail depart. On the drive back through Thieves' Landing, Abigail is in brighter spirits, and she and John return together to Beecher's Hope.

- โThis mission's name is a reference to the second mission of the story, "New Friends, Old Problems".
- โIn the cutscene in which Amos passes Bonnie when heading to the General Store, he greets her by saying "Ma'am". However the subtitles say "Howdy, miss".
- โThis was fixed in the Game of the Year Edition.
- โInstead of taking the marked route through Thieves Landing, the player can drive the wagon past The Pacific Union Railroad Camp and drive through the river at Montana Ford and make to Bonnie's ranch in half the time.
- โJohn's line "Bill, Javier, Dutch. They're all dead. It don't get more over than that." confirms Javier Escuella's death even if John spares him in "The Gates of El Presidio", implying that he was indeed executed for his crimes sometime before this mission.
- โThis mission marks Bonnie MacFarlane's final in-game and chronological appearance.
- โOn the way to the MacFarlane's Ranch, Abigail tells John, "A family that left you for dead. You knew the truth, John, and they hated you for it," referring back to his involvement with the gang before their departure. This moment echoes when John returned to camp in the prequel, determined to confront Dutch and the gang in "Red Dead Redemption".
