Un telegrama de Bonnie MacFarlane llega a Beecher's Hope. Como no sabe leer, Abigail pide a John que se lo lea en voz alta. Bonnie explica que las plagas han devorado la cosecha de MacFarlane's Ranch y necesita maíz con urgencia. Abigail señala que Uncle descuidó los sacos de maíz de Beecher's Hope, por lo que fueron los únicos víveres que nadie se llevó mientras la familia estaba ausente. Hace que John cargue el maíz en una carreta.
Abigail insiste en acompañar a John a MacFarlane's Ranch. Mientras él lleva la carreta por West Elizabeth y pasa por Thieves' Landing, ella le pregunta por Bonnie y por la relación entre ambos. John advierte sus celos, pero Abigail sostiene que Bonnie forma parte de la vida anterior que él no quiere hablar. John le dice que Bill, Javier y Dutch están muertos y que su vieja banda ha desaparecido. Llegan al rancho con el maíz.
Bonnie los recibe frente al rancho. Abigail y Bonnie se conocen, y su intercambio, al principio receloso, se vuelve cordial. John ayuda a Trent Oxley a descargar los sacos de maíz de la carreta. Bonnie se queda en el camino mirando cómo John y Abigail se alejan. Durante el regreso por Thieves' Landing, Abigail está de mucho mejor ánimo, y ambos vuelven juntos a Beecher's Hope.

- ◆This mission's name is a reference to the second mission of the story, "New Friends, Old Problems".
- ◆In the cutscene in which Amos passes Bonnie when heading to the General Store, he greets her by saying "Ma'am". However the subtitles say "Howdy, miss".
- ◆This was fixed in the Game of the Year Edition.
- ◆Instead of taking the marked route through Thieves Landing, the player can drive the wagon past The Pacific Union Railroad Camp and drive through the river at Montana Ford and make to Bonnie's ranch in half the time.
- ◆John's line "Bill, Javier, Dutch. They're all dead. It don't get more over than that." confirms Javier Escuella's death even if John spares him in "The Gates of El Presidio", implying that he was indeed executed for his crimes sometime before this mission.
- ◆This mission marks Bonnie MacFarlane's final in-game and chronological appearance.
- ◆On the way to the MacFarlane's Ranch, Abigail tells John, "A family that left you for dead. You knew the truth, John, and they hated you for it," referring back to his involvement with the gang before their departure. This moment echoes when John returned to camp in the prequel, determined to confront Dutch and the gang in "Red Dead Redemption".
