Cannon to stacjonarne działo gładkolufowe, które wystrzeliwuje amunicję za pomocą ładunku miotającego, najczęściej kulę armatnią. W Red Dead Redemption 2 występuje w kilku odmianach: jako Hotchkiss Cannon, Hotchkiss Mountain Gun oraz działa morskie na Guarma Warship. Model 1841 6-Pdr Smoothbore Field Gun również pojawia się w grze, lecz tylko jako element otoczenia w Bolger Glade, Sisika Penitentiary i Riley's Charge.
W rozdziale 5, podczas "Hell Hath No Fury", Arthur Morgan obsługuje Hotchkiss Cannon w Cinco Torres, aby zatopić okręt wojenny. Statek odpowiada ogniem z unikalnej odmiany działa, której nie ma nigdzie indziej w grze. W "Paradise Mercifully Departed" Arthur niszczy kilka Hotchkiss Mountain Gun, a następnie używa jednego z nich przeciwko Alberto Fussarowi.
Hotchkiss Mountain Gun pojawia się także w "The King's Son", gdzie jedno z dział wybija wyłom w murze Fort Wallace. W "Favored Sons" armata ostrzeliwuje Arthura, lecz podczas walki może on ją przejąć. Broń ta działa jako stała artyleria w misjach, natomiast rozstawione w świecie Model 1841 pozostają nieużywalnymi rekwizytami.
Ciekawostki
- ◆Cannonballs disappear once they reach a certain distance from a player, any player in Multiplayer. The maximum range for a cannon shot is unknown, but one gunner and one "observer" cooperating managed to shoot a ball from El Presidio to past Casa Madrugada.
- ◆At the time of Red Dead Redemption, conventional cannons had been obsoleted by more modern rifled cannons, howitzers, and mortars. Smoothbore cannons still found use, but were increasingly uncommon and no longer in production.
- ◆The cannon in Red Dead Redemption appears to be based on the 7 inch and 8 inch breech loading Armstrong Guns of the 1850s and 1860s.
- ◆Sometimes, when shooting a cannon inside El Presidio, NPC's will aim their weapons or actually fire on the player. This is most likely because they feel threatened by the continued use of the cannon, or some splash damage could have injured an NPC inside.
