John Marston vai até MacFarlane's Ranch para encontrar Bonnie MacFarlane. Lá, ela lhe apresenta seu pai, Drew MacFarlane, que se junta aos dois para domar cavalos selvagens para o rancho. Bonnie entrega um laço a John e conduz John e Drew por New Austin. Eles encontram um cavalo selvagem, e John se aproxima para laçá-lo enquanto Bonnie e Drew o mantêm preso entre os dois. John monta no animal e o doma.
Depois que o primeiro cavalo é domado, Drew o leva embora. John e Bonnie capturam um segundo cavalo selvagem, que John também doma. Bonnie volta para MacFarlane's Ranch montada no animal recém-domado, acompanhada por John. Do rancho, ela o leva rumo a Cholla Springs, onde uma manada maior de cavalos selvagens corre perto de Armadillo.
John conduz a manada até um cânion, mas um Kentucky Saddler se afasta dos outros cavalos. Ele persegue o garanhão sozinho, laça o animal e sobe em seu dorso. Depois de domar o Kentucky Saddler, John o cavalga até Bonnie em Cholla Springs.

Curiosidades
- ◆The achievements/trophies Clemency Pays and Dastardly cannot be completed until this mission is completed, as the player only unlocks the lasso after this mission, and the lasso must be unlocked for getting these achievements/trophies. There are also some random encounters that will not spawn, and bounties cannot be turned in alive.
- ◆It is impossible to lasso the horses that you are herding until you've brought them to Bonnie and everyone else.
- ◆Although Bonnie says to drive the herd up to the canyon you only need to herd the Kentucky Saddler to the canyon.
- ◆If you herd the horses up to the side of the canyon it will sometimes think you have herded them into the canyon and you will have completed this part of the mission.
- ◆It is unnecessary to hitch the Saddler, as completing this mission will automatically overwrite and despawn Marston's primary horse. This can be particularly problematic in Hardcore mode, as it forces Marston to lose the War Horse thus requiring the $10,000 deed to be purchased in order to get the mount back.
- ◆This mission is specifically programmed to not hinder the player's progress for the achievement "Spurred to Victory", despite the player switching to a new horse.
