Erkek olan Western Bull Moose boynuz taşır, Western Moose ise dişi çeşididir. İkisi de söğüt ve huş filizleri, su bitkileri ve otsu bitkilerle beslenir; hem suda hem karada dolaşır.
Western Bull Moose, West Elizabeth'e özgüdür. Western Moose ise West Elizabeth, Ambarino ve New Hanover'daki uzak ormanlık bölgelerde yaşar. Aurora Basin, Cairn Lake, Strawberry, Wapiti Indian Reservation ve Willard's Rest çevresinde, ayrıca Big Valley, Owanjila, Roanoke Ridge, Tall Trees, Grizzlies East ve Grizzlies West'te görülür.

- ◆Moose are notoriously rare and are one of the most (if not the most) difficult animals to come by. Even in their confirmed spawn locations, they are not guaranteed to spawn. This has led to some in-game jokes about Moose being even more legendary than the actual Legendary Moose.
- ◆The Compendium image for the Western Moose incorrectly shows a female Elk instead a female moose.
- ◆Moose, with the exclusion of Legendary Animals, are the largest naturally spawning animals in Red Dead Redemption 2. By height, they are taller than the other megafauna in the game, such as the Alligator, Bison, and Oxen.
- ◆The information on their diet mistakenly says they are omnivores, but in reality, moose are herbivores and do not eat meat. This is likely to be an error.
