John Marston trifft Edgar Ross und Archer Fordham in Blackwater, in der Erwartung, dass das Bureau seine Familie freilässt, nachdem Bill Williamson und Javier Escuella erledigt sind. Stattdessen befiehlt Ross ihm, Dutch van der Linde zu finden, und macht klar, dass Abigail und Jack unter der Kontrolle der Regierung bleiben, bis Dutch tot ist. Die Agenten haben Dutchs Leute bis zum Wreck of the Serendipity verfolgt. Ross gibt John eine High Power Pistol, und die drei Männer verlassen Blackwater mit dem Automobil.
Am Wrack bemerkt Fordham die ungewöhnliche Stille und sucht gemeinsam mit John die verlassenen Docks ab. Schreie führen John an Bord des Schiffs, wo er einen gefesselten und zugerichteten Gefangenen mit einem Sack über dem Kopf findet. Fordham identifiziert ihn als Nastas, den Informanten, der Dutchs vermeintlichen Aufenthaltsort geliefert hat. Dutchs Männer schließen das Wrack ein. Während die Gang angreift, weist Fordham John an, den verletzten Nastas zurück zu Ross und dem Automobil zu tragen.
John kämpft sich mit Nastas in den Armen durch das Wrack und setzt ihn ins Auto. Ross, Fordham, Nastas und John fahren los, doch das Automobil überhitzt außerhalb von Blackwater. Während Fordham daran arbeitet, es wieder zu starten, halten John und Ross berittene Verfolger zurück. Sobald der Motor wieder läuft, fahren sie weiter nach Blackwater. Ross und Fordham bringen Nastas in Harold MacDougal's Büro und weisen John an, dem Professor bei seiner Arbeit am Eingeborenenproblem zu helfen.

- ◆The name of the mission is a Biblical reference to Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ".
- ◆The accountant in the beginning scene is seen on the ferry in Exodus in America.
- ◆After West Dickens is released, Ross tells Marston "Moral degeneracy waits for no man." This is also what Dickens says to Marston during one of his missions.
- ◆This mission marks the last time Nigel West Dickens is seen in the game.
- ◆Fordham is able to start the automobile from the driver's seat via the ignition, which was rare for vehicles at the time.
- ◆Ross' betrayal of John is foreshadowed when giving John the High Power Pistol, he turns around and thrusts the barrel into John's chest.
- ◆While in the automobile, John complains to Ross by saying "First it was Bill, now it's Dutch. After Dutch, it'll be somebody else. Where does it end?" this line of dialogue marks the only instance in Red Dead Redemption that other members of the Van der Linde gang are mentioned outside of the four seen in this game. The four being John Marston, Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella and Dutch van der Linde. Red Dead Redemption 2 would later confirm that other members survived the gang's downfall and are likely still alive when the events of Red Dead Redemption take place.
- ◆Ross' betrayal of John is once again foreshadowed, this time during the automobile ride, when the previously shown dialogue showing John's concern about someone else being killed after Dutch is brought up, something that ends up happening in "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed" where not one, but two former members of the gang are killed, those members being Uncle and John himself.
