John Marston se reúne con Edgar Ross y Archer Fordham en Blackwater, convencido de que el Bureau liberará a su familia tras acabar con Bill Williamson y Javier Escuella. Ross le ordena buscar a Dutch van der Linde y deja claro que Abigail y Jack seguirán bajo control del gobierno hasta que Dutch muera. Los agentes creen que los hombres de Dutch se esconden en el Wreck of the Serendipity. Ross entrega a John una High Power Pistol y los tres salen de Blackwater en automóvil.
En el pecio, Fordham se extraña por el silencio y registra los muelles abandonados con John. Unos gritos llevan a John al interior del barco, donde encuentra a un joven atado, golpeado y con un saco cubriéndole la cabeza. Fordham lo reconoce como Nastas, el informante que dio la supuesta ubicación de Dutch. Los hombres de Dutch rodean el lugar. Fordham ordena a John que cargue al herido Nastas hasta Ross y el automóvil mientras la banda abre fuego.
John combate a través del pecio con Nastas en brazos y lo deja en el coche. Ross, Fordham, Nastas y John emprenden la marcha, pero el automóvil se recalienta a las afueras de Blackwater. Mientras Fordham intenta poner en marcha el motor, John y Ross rechazan a los perseguidores a caballo. Cuando el vehículo vuelve a funcionar, continúan hacia Blackwater. Ross y Fordham llevan a Nastas a la oficina de Harold MacDougal y ordenan a John ayudar al profesor con sus estudios sobre el problema indígena.

Curiosidades
- ◆The name of the mission is a Biblical reference to Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ".
- ◆The accountant in the beginning scene is seen on the ferry in Exodus in America.
- ◆After West Dickens is released, Ross tells Marston "Moral degeneracy waits for no man." This is also what Dickens says to Marston during one of his missions.
- ◆This mission marks the last time Nigel West Dickens is seen in the game.
- ◆Fordham is able to start the automobile from the driver's seat via the ignition, which was rare for vehicles at the time.
- ◆Ross' betrayal of John is foreshadowed when giving John the High Power Pistol, he turns around and thrusts the barrel into John's chest.
- ◆While in the automobile, John complains to Ross by saying "First it was Bill, now it's Dutch. After Dutch, it'll be somebody else. Where does it end?" this line of dialogue marks the only instance in Red Dead Redemption that other members of the Van der Linde gang are mentioned outside of the four seen in this game. The four being John Marston, Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella and Dutch van der Linde. Red Dead Redemption 2 would later confirm that other members survived the gang's downfall and are likely still alive when the events of Red Dead Redemption take place.
- ◆Ross' betrayal of John is once again foreshadowed, this time during the automobile ride, when the previously shown dialogue showing John's concern about someone else being killed after Dutch is brought up, something that ends up happening in "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed" where not one, but two former members of the gang are killed, those members being Uncle and John himself.
