Auf Ridgewood Farm bittet Nigel West Dickens John Marston, in seinem Namen an einem Wagenrennen teilzunehmen. Er verteidigt Seth Briars' verstörendes Verhalten, indem er ihn mit im alten Ägypten angesehenen Persönlichkeiten vergleicht, doch John hat wenig Geduld für dieses Argument. Nigel braucht Geld und glaubt, dass John es für ihn gewinnen kann. John stimmt zu, setzt sich neben den Verkäufer und fährt mit ihm Richtung Gaptooth Breach.
In Gaptooth Breach tritt Nigel mit seinem Wagen gegen mehrere andere Fahrer an. Als das Rennen beginnt, übernimmt John die Kontrolle über das Gespann und lenkt den Wagen entlang der markierten Strecke durch die Wüste, während er vor den anderen Karren bleibt. Das Rennen führt sie durch das raue Gelände rund um die Mine, wobei Nigel darauf vertraut, dass John seinen Plan vor der Konkurrenz ins Ziel bringt.
John gewinnt das Rennen und sichert Nigel seinen Einsatz. Nachdem die anderen Rennfahrer hinter ihnen zurückbleiben, fährt er Nigels Wagen von Gaptooth Breach Richtung Benedict Point. Während der Fahrt drängt Nigel John weiterhin, ihm bei seinen verschiedenen Unternehmungen zu helfen, während John sich darauf konzentriert, die Männer zu finden, die mit Bill Williamson verbunden sind. Sie erreichen Benedict Point, und Nigel benötigt noch immer John Marstons Dienste.

Wissenswertes
- ◆Interestingly, apart from the three racing missions given to you during the story ("Obstacles in Our Path"; "Liars, Cheats and Other Proud Americans"; "The Sport of Kings, and Liars"), the opportunity to race never presents itself again in single player. However, racing is available in the Grand Prix multiplayer game mode as part of the Liars and Cheats DLC.
- ◆Sometimes, there is a wagon with no one driving it. It will still race and count for one of the racers, there just won't be a driver.
- ◆At the start of the mission, Nigel West Dickens tries to justify Seth's behaviour mentioning that he would have been respected in Ancient Egypt: Seth was close to the name of the Egyptian god associated with disorder and deserts.
- ◆During the end ride of this mission, John will mention threats such as "Falling rocks" and "Homicidal maniacs" even though none of these appear, it is likely that these threats were intended to be in the mission but were scrapped or forgotten about.
- ◆If the player manages to hitch their horse at the hitching post next to the mission marker, the opening cutscene of the mission will be skipped entirely, likely due to a glitch.
- ◆While the loading screen for the mission appears as normal, the game will quickly resume with Marston getting off his horse to hitch it, though the loading screen will resume immediately afterwards. Once the loading screen finishes for the second time, the player is instructed to ride shotgun with West Dickens without the opening cutscene playing prior to this.
