A Ridgewood Farm, Nigel West Dickens chiede a John Marston di partecipare a una corsa di carri per suo conto. Difende il comportamento inquietante di Seth Briars paragonandolo a figure rispettate nell'antico Egitto, ma John ha poca pazienza per quell'argomento. Nigel ha bisogno di denaro e crede che John possa vincerlo per lui. John accetta, si siede accanto al venditore e viaggia con lui verso Gaptooth Breach.
A Gaptooth Breach, Nigel iscrive il suo carro contro quelli di diversi altri conducenti. Quando la gara ha inizio, John prende il controllo della pariglia, guidando il carro lungo il percorso segnalato attraverso il deserto e mantenendosi davanti agli altri carri. La corsa li porta attraverso il terreno accidentato attorno alla miniera, mentre Nigel conta su John per far arrivare il suo piano davanti alla concorrenza.
John vince la gara e si assicura la scommessa di Nigel. Con gli altri corridori alle loro spalle, guida il carro di Nigel lontano da Gaptooth Breach in direzione di Benedict Point. Durante il viaggio, Nigel continua a fare pressione su John affinché lo aiuti nelle sue varie imprese, mentre John resta concentrato nel trovare gli uomini legati a Bill Williamson. Arrivano a Benedict Point e Nigel ha ancora bisogno dei servizi di John Marston.

Curiosità
- ◆Interestingly, apart from the three racing missions given to you during the story ("Obstacles in Our Path"; "Liars, Cheats and Other Proud Americans"; "The Sport of Kings, and Liars"), the opportunity to race never presents itself again in single player. However, racing is available in the Grand Prix multiplayer game mode as part of the Liars and Cheats DLC.
- ◆Sometimes, there is a wagon with no one driving it. It will still race and count for one of the racers, there just won't be a driver.
- ◆At the start of the mission, Nigel West Dickens tries to justify Seth's behaviour mentioning that he would have been respected in Ancient Egypt: Seth was close to the name of the Egyptian god associated with disorder and deserts.
- ◆During the end ride of this mission, John will mention threats such as "Falling rocks" and "Homicidal maniacs" even though none of these appear, it is likely that these threats were intended to be in the mission but were scrapped or forgotten about.
- ◆If the player manages to hitch their horse at the hitching post next to the mission marker, the opening cutscene of the mission will be skipped entirely, likely due to a glitch.
- ◆While the loading screen for the mission appears as normal, the game will quickly resume with Marston getting off his horse to hitch it, though the loading screen will resume immediately afterwards. Once the loading screen finishes for the second time, the player is instructed to ride shotgun with West Dickens without the opening cutscene playing prior to this.
