Em Ridgewood Farm, Nigel West Dickens pede a John Marston que dispute uma corrida de carroças em seu nome. Ele tenta justificar o comportamento perturbador de Seth Briars, comparando-o a figuras respeitadas no Egito antigo, mas John não demonstra muita paciência com a explicação. Nigel precisa de dinheiro e acredita que John pode ganhá-lo para ele. John aceita, senta-se ao lado do vendedor e segue com ele para Gaptooth Breach.
Em Gaptooth Breach, Nigel inscreve sua carroça contra vários outros condutores. Quando a corrida começa, John assume as rédeas, guiando a parelha pelo percurso marcado no deserto e mantendo a dianteira sobre as outras carroças. A disputa atravessa o terreno acidentado ao redor da mina, enquanto Nigel depende de John para fazer seu plano chegar antes dos concorrentes.
John vence a corrida e garante a aposta de Nigel. Com os demais corredores para trás, ele conduz a carroça de Nigel para longe de Gaptooth Breach, rumo a Benedict Point. Durante o trajeto, Nigel continua tentando envolver John em seus negócios, enquanto John se concentra em encontrar os homens ligados a Bill Williamson. Eles chegam a Benedict Point, e Nigel ainda precisa dos serviços de John Marston.

Curiosidades
- ◆Interestingly, apart from the three racing missions given to you during the story ("Obstacles in Our Path"; "Liars, Cheats and Other Proud Americans"; "The Sport of Kings, and Liars"), the opportunity to race never presents itself again in single player. However, racing is available in the Grand Prix multiplayer game mode as part of the Liars and Cheats DLC.
- ◆Sometimes, there is a wagon with no one driving it. It will still race and count for one of the racers, there just won't be a driver.
- ◆At the start of the mission, Nigel West Dickens tries to justify Seth's behaviour mentioning that he would have been respected in Ancient Egypt: Seth was close to the name of the Egyptian god associated with disorder and deserts.
- ◆During the end ride of this mission, John will mention threats such as "Falling rocks" and "Homicidal maniacs" even though none of these appear, it is likely that these threats were intended to be in the mission but were scrapped or forgotten about.
- ◆If the player manages to hitch their horse at the hitching post next to the mission marker, the opening cutscene of the mission will be skipped entirely, likely due to a glitch.
- ◆While the loading screen for the mission appears as normal, the game will quickly resume with Marston getting off his horse to hitch it, though the loading screen will resume immediately afterwards. Once the loading screen finishes for the second time, the player is instructed to ride shotgun with West Dickens without the opening cutscene playing prior to this.
