About this vehicle
The Coil Voltic is a two-door electric roadster for two people, classified as a Super vehicle despite its compact sports-car form. Its shape draws on the Lotus Elise and Exige, with the Elise influencing its roofline and the Exige its rear treatment and side profile. Its mirrors resemble those of the Audi R8. The low nose carries three grilles and oval lamps, while vents cut into the bonnet and body sides. It can appear open-topped or with a solid or carbon-fiber roof.
The electric motor drives the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission. The Voltic launches with exceptional response, accelerates rapidly and can reverse as quickly as it travels forward. It also climbs steep inclines readily. Its top speed is poor beside other Super cars and most sports cars, however, and its short wheelbase can make it unstable at speed. The light body turns sharply but is easily shoved aside by heavier traffic, while collisions can quickly damage its panels and wheels.
In Grand Theft Auto V, the Voltic appears at the Kortz Center in Pacific Bluffs, Marlowe Vineyards, Vinewood Bowl Theater, around Rockford Hills and at several airport-side parking areas. It may also be present after Three's Company or during preparations for The Big Score. Modified examples roam Vinewood or appear outside Los Santos Customs. In Grand Theft Auto Online, it can be bought from Legendary Motorsport for $150,000, although it was removed from the website in enhanced versions. It also appears around Rockford Hills, Little Seoul and The Diamond Casino & Resort.
Trivia
- โDespite it being a single transmission car, there is a five-speed gear shifter inside. This is most likely an oversight.
- โAfter the 1.17 patch, if the primary color is changed at Los Santos Customs, the hood and "color-coded spoiler" modification will not be painted, and will stay their original color. This has been fixed in the enhanced version of the game.
- โOddly, the battery model uses four verniers and timing belts in line with each other to resemble four motors/batteries.
- โDespite it being a fully-electric car, when the player exits the car, they may hear the sound of engine oil dripping down from parts as if it had an internal combustion engine. Also, the oil pressure light on the dashboard is always on when the car is on.
- โOriginally, there were no options to change roofs, meaning the player had to steal one with the desired roof option.
- โHowever, roof options became available at some point later, although in GTA Online, the carbon roof option remains available only at LSC.
