Player notes
The Legendary Cougar is the game's legendary version of the cougar. Its black fur sets it apart from ordinary cougars, making it readily identifiable. Like other cougars, it is a carnivore that preys on deer, elk, moose and mountain goats. It is aggressive and can attack when encountered.
It lives in New Austin, in the Gaptooth Ridge area north of Gaptooth Breach. The animal is tracked and hunted there, and its dangerous temperament makes it a hostile quarry rather than a passive animal. Its distinctive coat also makes it easier to recognize once it is found in its territory.
Killing and skinning the Legendary Cougar yields the Legendary Cougar Fang, Legendary Cougar Pelt, Big Game Meat and a Legendary Cougar Carcass. The Fang is used at a Fence to make the Cougar Fang Trinket. The Pelt can be taken to a Trapper for the Legendary Cougar/Wolf Vest, Legendary Cougar Riding Gloves and Legendary Cougar Flop Hat, which belong to the Beast of Prey Garment Set.
Trivia
- โAs the Legendary Cougar's habitat is in New Austin, it can only be hunted after the epilogue. However, there are some exploits that allow the player to hunt it earlier.
- โThis is the only legendary animal that the Trapper does not make a comment about upon being given the pelt/carcass.
