Alberto Fussar is a colonel in the Cuban Military and the military governor of Guarma. From Aguasdulces, he rules the island through forced labour on its sugar plantations, with punishment for those who resist. He has business ties to Leviticus Cornwall and connections in Saint Denis, where newspapers portray him as a fair ruler. Fussar first enters the story at the mayor's party in Saint Denis, attending among the city's prominent guests.
After the Van der Linde gang is shipwrecked on Guarma, Levi Simon and Fussar's soldiers capture several members and chain them beside rebel prisoners. Rebels free the gang before Fussar appears. Dutch and Arthur later enter Aguasdulces in search of Javier, and find Fussar overseeing his soldiers as they beat and drag the wounded captive behind a donkey. Fussar addresses his men while Javier is questioned about his companions, but Javier refuses to name them.
Fussar learns who the gang are and discovers the bounty placed on them. He calls in the Cuban Navy and has coastal gun batteries prepared to prevent their escape. Arthur, Dutch, Micah and Hercule Fontaine attack the batteries, then storm Aguasdulces to free a ship captain. Inside the workers' quarters, Levi Simon holds Arthur at gunpoint. Dutch confronts Simon, Fussar covers Dutch, and the captain shoots Simon after Arthur kicks a rifle to him. Fussar escapes the standoff.
The gang heads for the ship at the port, but Fussar takes control of a cannon in a tower above them and opens fire. Hercule draws the colonel's attention while Arthur reaches another cannon nearby. Arthur fires on Fussar's tower, destroying it with Fussar still inside. The colonel dies as the gang reaches the ship in Guarma.
Trivia
- โIn the epilogue, a newspaper article states that Guarma is even worse after Fussar's death, as the sugar plantation is now run by businessman JD McKnight, who also took over a lot of Cornwall's businesses. This caused the island to become totally reliant on American imports, which in turn led to the workers being mistreated even worse than under Fussar, who was both the governor and the ruler of the plantation.
- โHe is very reminiscent of Agustin Allende. Both have the rank of Colonel and are tyrannical governors of a land that uses the Spanish language and both serve as the main antagonists of their respective chapters where the protagonist is in a foreign territory. Alberto also has a similar appearance to Allende, particularly during his introduction when he wears a uniform similar to Allendeโs in addition to having similar hair and facial hair.
- โKilling Fussar with the cannon is only optional. He can also be killed with one shot by any gun if the player stands in the correct angle.
- โFussar lives in a fortified manor in Aguasdulces, just near the worker's houses and the sugar factory.
