Morris Peyton

Morris Peyton works as an auctioneer at the Jackson Worth auction yard in Valentine, New Hanover. He enters the story when Arthur Morgan and John Marston arrive with a herd of sheep they have rustled. Peyton immediately questions where the animals came from. He offers to keep their crime to himself, but only if he receives a 25 percent reduction from the price. Arthur rejects the demand, while John takes over the discussion.

John bargains Peyton down to an 18 percent reduction, and the auctioneer accepts the arrangement. Arthur and John leave the yard for Keane's Saloon, planning to return for the money after the sheep are sold. A shootout soon engulfs Valentine, preventing them from going back to the auction yard. John later says that he intends to retrieve the payment, though it is never known whether he does.

Eight years later, during the ending credits, Peyton sits with a woman inside Smithfield's Saloon in Valentine. Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham approach him as they search for the man who killed Micah Bell. They question the auctioneer for information while he remains seated in the saloon.
