Player notes

The Andalusian is a medium War horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, with Standard handling. It is a compact, powerful breed with a strong build, a thick mane and tail, and a noble-looking head. The breed is based on the Andalusian horses of Spain, which were heavily protected by Spanish royalty during the game's period and were rare in the United States.

As a War horse, the Andalusian is built more for endurance and health than outright pace. It has good health and increased stamina, while its speed and acceleration sit below those of faster horses. Its Standard handling gives it moderate agility and reactivity, making it suited to sustained travel rather than rapid acceleration.

Andalusians appear in the wilderness and can also be obtained through stables. Dark Bay and Rose Gray horses are sold at stables. In Story Mode, the Perlino Andalusian can be acquired for free from Chapter 2 onward near Brandywine Drop, close to the waterfall by the first "R" in Roanoke Ridge on the map.

Trivia

  • โ—†In the mission "Sodom? Back to Gomorrah", the last lawman on horseback is riding a Rose Grey Andalusian, but due to time constraints in the mission there is no known way to steal this mount.
  • โ—†In the mission "Honor, Amongst Thieves", Captain Monroe rides a Dark Bay Andalusian.
  • โ—†Prior to the horse's official release in the December 2019 update, the Perlino Andalusian was only obtainable through using the cheats "You Are A Beast Built For War" or "You Want Something New".
  • โ—†Though rare, it's possible for the Perlino Andalusian to accidentally buck themself and the player off the cliff the horse is located on while the player is breaking the horse in. This, along with the fact that wolves can spawn in this location as well, is why it is recommended for the player to be cautious when trying to obtain this horse.
  • โ—†In the mission "A Fisher of Men", Agent Milton can be seen arriving on a Dark Bay Andalusian.
  • โ—†Andalusians were ludicrously rare in the United States during the period the game is set, as they were heavily protected by Spanish royalty. They were also not considered worth smuggling in illegally, making their presence in the game wildly implausible- albeit not impossible.
  • โ—†The Dark Bay Andalusian has a stripe and snip, in addition to displaying sooty characteristics.
  • โ—†The Rose Gray Andalusian is a greying bay horse with socks, although the purple hue appears to have been overdone.
  • โ—†The Perlino Andalusian features a stripe and blue eyes.
