Player notes
Rachel is a large seal brown Race horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, with Race handling. She has a black mane and tail, a star on her forehead, grey hooves and two white socks on her hind legs. Her speed is rated at 6, with acceleration at 4, health at 4 and stamina at 4. Her reactions otherwise follow those of other horses, varying with circumstances and her bond with John Marston.
Rachel first appears at Pronghorn Ranch in 1907, during the Pronghorn Ranch chapter. After John helps the ranch deliver and retrieve a wagon in "The Wheel", he offers to work there. Tom Dickens tells him to remain at the ranch, and John heads to his new cabin. Rachel is waiting outside the cabin as he arrives.
Rachel becomes John Marston's mount during the Epilogue and is intended to stay with him for its duration. She can remain in his possession until some point before 1911, when she appears to have been replaced.
Trivia
- โRegardless of the player's decision to keep her or if she dies, Rachel will be seen being brushed by John in the ending credits. This is likely due to an oversight.
- โA similar oversight can be observed in "A New Jerusalem", where both John and Jack's horses are replaced by Standard Horses.
- โWhile she can simply be sold or die, it is possible to never interact with Rachel during the game. In order to do this, simply bond with two other horses and she will eventually despawn.
