Player notes
The Pronghorn is a fast-running herbivore based on Antilocapra americana. Red Dead Redemption 2 includes American, Baja California and Sonoran pronghorns, each appearing as bucks and does. Their colouring and horns are very similar between varieties, while does have shorter, stubby horns. Sonoran pronghorns carry a more orange coat.
Pronghorns graze on grass and other herbs across western and southwestern country, including West Elizabeth, New Austin and western New Hanover. Large concentrations live in northern Black Bone Forest in Big Valley and near Flatneck Station in The Heartlands. American, Baja California and Sonoran animals can be difficult to tell apart in the field because of their close appearance.
They are among the fastest animals in their class once startled. Hunting them yields Pronghorn Fur, Mature Venison and a Pronghorn Carcass. Their parts can be sold or used in crafting recipes, and skinning pronghorns also counts toward General Daily Challenges. A legendary pronghorn also lives in New Austin.
