Player notes
The Armadillo is a short, stout mammal based on Dasypus novemcinctus, the nine-banded armadillo. Bands of armour cover its body, while its tail is scaly. Its legs are short, but it can move quickly, making it difficult to catch.
It lives in the south-west of the map, chiefly in New Austin, where the warm, desert-like country suits it. Armadillos are found in Cholla Springs, Gaptooth Ridge and Río Bravo. They also appear in the transition area of Hennigan's Stead.
Hunting an Armadillo can provide Armadillo Skin, Stringy Meat and an Armadillo Carcass. A Varmint Rifle can kill one without damaging its pelt.
Trivia
- ◆"Armadillo" is Spanish for "little armored one".
- ◆The Desperado outfit needs a Perfect Armadillo Skin to be completed. As their habitats are only found in the New Austin deserts, this outfit can only be acquired after the game's epilogue. However, there are some exploits that allow for the outfit to be obtained earlier.
