Player notes
The Bison is the American bison, Bison bison, in Red Dead Redemption 2. It is a large herbivore native to the plains of New Hanover and West Elizabeth. It grazes on grains, hay and corn, and its size sets it apart from smaller game animals found across the frontier.
Bison range across Great Plains and the southwestern part of Hennigan's Stead. They also appear in the southwest of The Heartlands and west of Emerald Ranch. They usually gather in herds, though a solitary animal can occasionally be found away from the larger group.
The animal's bulk makes powerful hunting weapons appropriate, including the Carcano Rifle or a Bow fitted with Improved Arrows. A rifle can also bring one down, with stronger ammunition improving its effectiveness. Hunting a Bison provides Bison Fur, Bison Horns and Prime Beef.
