Player notes
The Beaver is based on the North American beaver, Castor canadensis. It is a large semi-aquatic rodent found around Owanjila, Lake Isabella, Huron Glen and Shady Belle, usually close to its dams and the water. It feeds on tree bark, cambium, roots, buds and water plants. A legendary beaver lives in Roanoke Ridge, southwest of Annesburg.
Beavers can turn hostile and bite at Arthur's legs, although the bites do not harm his health. They escape into the water when frightened, making them difficult to recover once they leave the shore. The Varmint Rifle is the ideal hunting weapon, but a torso hit does not kill one in a single shot. A headshot is needed for a clean kill.
A beaver yields Beaver Fur, Animal Fat, Scent Glands, Stringy Meat and a Beaver Carcass. Its scent glands, skin and fat are used in crafting. A perfect Beaver carcass is one of the specimens required for "A Better World, A New Friend" and must be mailed to Ms. L. Hobbs. The Trapper sells the Beaver Roping saddle, which is among the strongest saddles for horse health.
