Badger

The Badger is Red Dead Redemption 2's American badger, Taxidea taxus. It is a moderately sized, wide-bodied mammal with short legs, a long head and small ears. Its grey coat is paired with black facial stripes and white markings. Although it is small enough to be overlooked in the grass and scrub, it is an aggressive omnivore that hunts smaller animals such as squirrels and moles, while also feeding on insects, earthworms and grubs.

Badgers occur across the world outside Grizzlies West, and rank among the game's more numerous animals. They can be difficult to spot because their low, broad bodies let them disappear into the ground cover. Southwest Lemoyne, around Rhodes, is a noted area for them, as is Tall Trees west of Blackwater. Their presence across much of the map makes them a regular part of the smaller wildlife found away from the northern mountains.

A killed Badger yields a Badger Pelt, Stringy Meat, a Badger Claw and a Badger Carcass. Its pelt and claw can be used in crafting, while the carcass is another item obtained from the animal. The Badger therefore provides materials from both its hide and body, rather than functioning as a mount or a larger hunting target.
