Player notes

Arthur meets Micah Bell at Monto's Rest, near Strawberry. Micah has learned that a banking stagecoach is due to pass through the area and asks Arthur to help rob it, calling it repayment for the jailbreak at Strawberry. Arthur mounts up and rides with him through Big Valley. Their conversation soon turns hostile as they argue over Micah's talent for attracting trouble and the threat posed by the O'Driscolls.

At a ridge overlooking the road, Arthur and Micah wait for the coach. When it comes into view, they ride down to intercept it and open fire on the driver and armed guards. With the escort dead, they seize the stagecoach. Micah takes the reins and hands Arthur a Lancaster Repeater, then drives the stolen coach away from the ambush site.

Near the Dakota River, O'Driscolls move to take the coach for themselves, felling a tree across the road and attacking from the surrounding ground. Dynamite destroys the coach and throws Arthur and Micah into the river. They fight back from the riverbank until the surviving O'Driscolls flee. At the overturned coach, Arthur shoots open the lockbox, and he and Micah divide the money.

Trivia

  • โ—†It is possible to obtain a Lancaster Repeater from the guards before Micah gives the weapon to Arthur. This way the player will have two Lancaster Repeaters in their weapon inventory.
  • โ—†If the player strays too far from Micah during both shootouts they will be killed with one shot, no matter their health.
  • โ—†If the player neglects to shoot the coach's lock, Micah will do it himself after expressing his impatience.
  • โ—†After the mission ends, staying next to the river too long will trigger a response from the law.
  • โ—†In this mission, the Lancaster Repeater makes a different noise than it does during free roam.
  • โ—†Micah's belief that Dutch thinks Arthur is a "big shadow cast by a tiny tree", is possibly a reference to the Abraham Lincoln quote, "Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."
  • โ—†One of the stagecoach guards will have a Liberty Hat but there is also one with a Farmer Hat.
  • โ—†The player can get 2 Lancaster repeaters if they have robbed the basement of Rhodes Gunsmith and have looted the weapon case prior to the mission.
  • โ—†This is one of the many missions where the player can obtain Micah's Revolver early.
  • โ—†This is the only Chapter 2 mission that can be done in Chapter 3. However, the furthest the player can wait to do this mission is before the mission "Advertising, The New American Art".
