Player notes

Arthur arrives at Cinco Torres as Dutch and the gang argue with Hercule Fontaine about the boat he promised them. Hercule says Alberto Fussar has recognized them and called in a warship from Cuba. He will not let them leave until Fussar is dead and cannot send word of them to America. The argument is cut short when the defenders spot the ship offshore and soldiers advancing across the beach.

From the roof, Arthur joins the others in firing on the men storming the fortress while Hercule readies a cannon. Arthur helps him roll it into position, but the attackers breach Cinco Torres before they can use it. Micah and Bill stay above to guard the weapon. Arthur goes down with Dutch and Hercule, fighting through the fort as shells from the warship strike around them.

More of Fussar's men approach in boats on both sides of the fortress. Arthur sends Dutch and Hercule to cover separate approaches, then helps drive back the landing parties. Dutch remains behind to hold off further attackers while Arthur follows Hercule back to the roof by another path. They fire the cannon into the warship until it is destroyed. Arthur leaves the fort and walks down to the beach, where the gang prepares to return to America.

Trivia

  • โ—†This title is derived from a line in the 1697 tragedy The Mourning Bride, the actual quote reading: "Heav'n has no rage like love to hatred turned, / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."
  • โ—†The Cuban warship bares a resemblance to that of the ironclad CSS Virginia, which was the first steam-powered ironclad warship built by the Confederate States Navy during the first year of the American Civil War. It was constructed as a casemate ironclad using the razรฉed (cut down) original lower hull and engines of the scuttled steam frigate USS Merrimack. Virginia was one of the participants in the Battle of Hampton Roads, opposing the Union's USS Monitor in March 1862.
  • โ—†This is one of the very rare times an NPC uses dual wielded revolvers (the others being certain enemies in "A Short Walk in a Pretty Town," "Our Best Selves," and Micah Bell).
  • โ—†Despite the fact that Hercule has to reload the cannon while it is being used to destroy the ironclad, the ammunition visible in the magazine does not move at all.
  • โ—†As a result of his tuberculosis progressing, Arthur's well being will become "Unwell" in the Player menu after this mission, with his cores draining 5% more than usual.
  • โ—†When the gang first see the warship arriving, two little birds can be seen to Arthur's left before flying away. These same birds are seen again landing near Arthur before he walks away from the fort at the end. There is a belief that these two birds symbolize Hosea Matthews and Lenny Summers respectively as their "spirit animals", after their deaths in Saint Denis.
  • โ—†Hercule runs very fast when he and Arthur are sprinting back up to the roof to use the cannon, as the path he takes involves several sharp turns and drops and it is very easy to lose track of him in the bushes. Use the mini-map to stay on his trail and spam the sprint button to keep up with him.
  • โ—†After the final cutscene, during the walking segment, the player can actually manually save their game. This is technically because this segment is more of a transition between this mission and the next mission, "Paradise Mercifully Departed".
  • โ—†Speaking of the walking segment and the next mission, if the player opens up the map, they can see the next mission's blip in Manicato and see that it's given by Bill Williamson. But this blip is basically useless since the following mission automatically begins after the walking segment.
