Player notes

Arthur Morgan meets Sadie Adler and Dutch van der Linde in a Saint Denis saloon after word reaches the gang that Colm O'Driscoll will be executed. Colm has escaped hanging before, so Sadie and Dutch intend to see the sentence carried out. They disguise themselves for the occasion, with Arthur and Dutch posing as police officers and Sadie dressed as an upper class woman, then make their way through the city to the gallows.

At the crowd, Dutch spots men he identifies as O'Driscolls. Arthur and Dutch trail one into an alley and overhear the gang's rescue plan. An O'Driscoll marksman is waiting on the rooftops to create panic during the execution. Dutch returns to Sadie while Arthur climbs up to deal with the shooter. Arthur kills the gunman, takes his rifle and watches the gallows from above.

Dutch and Sadie seize two O'Driscolls in the crowd as Colm is brought out. Seeing his gang's plan has failed, Colm faces the noose and is hanged. Sadie kills both captives in a burst of anger, drawing the remaining O'Driscolls into a gunfight. From the roof, Arthur uses the rifle to clear a route while Dutch and Sadie fight below.

Once the O'Driscolls are driven off, Dutch and Sadie leave Saint Denis by wagon. Arthur discards his police uniform in a rubbish bin and returns to Beaver Hollow. There, Tilly Jackson gives him a farewell letter from Mary Linton, along with Mary's ring and an old photograph of Arthur and Mary.

Trivia

  • โ—†At the end of the mission, Tilly Jackson gives Arthur a goodbye letter from Mary Linton, who gives out two lines that he later recalls during his final ride in "Red Dead Redemption" depending on his Honor: "I see clearly that your world is not a world from which one can escape" (if Arthur's Honor is low), and "There's a good man within you... but he is wrestling with a giant" (if his Honor is high).
  • โ—†After completion, the outfit Arthur wore prior to this mission may have the police uniform belt on it. This is likely a glitch, as it is not added as a weapon equipment piece.
  • โ—†It is possible to save the police officer hat. To do so, the player must have an empty slot on the horse and make sure they pick up the hat from the ground after it has been knocked off during the rooftop fight.
  • โ—†It is also possible to save and keep the rest of the police officer uniform. All the player needs to do is start the mission, wait for the cutscene to end and walk away from Dutch, if done correctly, the player should have the outfit on.
  • โ—†During the cutscene at the start, Dutch gives Arthur a black police uniform, even though they both wear blue uniforms during the mission.
  • โ—†After this mission, players will be able to see critical areas on targets while using Dead Eye.
  • โ—†This mission marks the further deterioration of the relationship between Arthur and Dutch, as Arthur tells him "Practice what you preach, brother," clearly stating Dutch's hypocrisy up to this point in the story, acting out in revenge against his own teachings.
  • โ—†This mission marks the first and only time Dutch refers to Arthur by only his surname, shouting "Morgan, you hear us? Take a shot on these O'Driscolls!" after Sadie starts shooting.
  • โ—†If the player approaches the crowd at the hanging, an O'Driscoll will recognize them and a lawman will drop his revolver along with civilians running away which will lead to mission failure.
  • โ—†Dutch wears the Saint Denis Police Chief hat and gloves instead of a full regular Saint Denis Police Officer uniform.
