Tilly Jackson

Tilly Jackson is the daughter of a former slave. The Foreman Brothers abduct her from her mother when she is twelve, and she grows up as an outlaw among them. When Anthony Foreman's cousin Malcolm makes advances on her, Tilly cuts his throat and escapes. She returns to her mother's workplace to find that her mother has died. Dutch van der Linde later finds Tilly in trouble, takes her in, teaches her to read and becomes a father figure to her.

In 1899, Tilly lives with the Van der Linde gang. She helps around camp and spends time with Mary-Beth and Karen. In Valentine, Anthony Foreman confronts and attacks her until Arthur Morgan warns him away. At Clemens Point, Tilly tells Arthur that Lemoyne is especially dangerous for her as a Black woman. She speaks of her mother's life in slavery, while Arthur promises that the gang will keep her safe. She also joins Arthur and Bill Williamson for an attempted Boles Overland stagecoach robbery.

After the gang moves near Saint Denis, Tilly fears that the Foreman Brothers have a nearby safehouse. They seize her and take her to Radley's House in Bayou Nwa. Susan Grimshaw and Arthur free Tilly, then hunt down Anthony Foreman. Tilly tells him to leave her alone, and when he promises to do so, she asks Arthur to spare him. During the Pinkerton attack on Beaver Hollow, Tilly hides Jack Marston and flees camp with him. She meets the surviving women, then reunites with Abigail, Sadie and John at Copperhead Landing after Arthur gives her money and tells her to live well.

Tilly leaves the gang and marries Mr. Pierre, a Haitian lawyer. They have a daughter and settle in Saint Denis. Years later, John finds her sitting near the park beside the tailor shop. Tilly learns that he lives at Beecher's Hope with Abigail and Jack, and that he still sees Uncle, Charles and Sadie. She promises to write. In her letter, she says her family has a fine house and servants, that she still sees Mary-Beth, and that she has heard nothing of Karen.
