Player notes
John finds Jack Marston outside at Beecher's Hope, reading while Rufus stays near him. He asks his son to go fishing, and Jack agrees. John, Jack and the dog set out for the Upper Montana River, speaking about spending more time together. On the walk, Jack recalls the day Arthur took him fishing, before Pinkertons interrupted them.
At the river, John and Jack cast their lines and fish together. Once one of them brings in a catch, Jack realizes Rufus has wandered away. He searches the riverside for the dog, with John following him. They find Rufus lying hurt after a snake bites his leg.
John draws the venom from Rufus's wound and carries him back to Beecher's Hope, telling Jack to gather their fishing things. Jack arrives home distressed and says they should never have gone fishing. Abigail and John reassure him that Rufus will recover after a few days.

- โIf the player tries starting the mission at night, John will knock on the bathroom door, asking Jack if he wants to do something tomorrow, which Jack agrees as John says that he will see him bright and early.
