Tomahawk (RDR 2)

The Tomahawk is a Projectile weapon with a lightweight wooden shaft and a thin blade. It is made for fast thrown attacks, but can also be swung in close combat when an enemy closes the distance. It cannot be customized. Its simple construction allows a thrown tomahawk to be recovered from a dead target, avoiding the need to replace it after every use.

Tomahawks are sold for $4 by all Fences and by the Trapper. Before "Paying a Social Call", one can also be collected at Six Point Cabin while the hideout is still empty. Others are found on broken, abandoned stagecoaches in Southern Cumberland Forest. These finds provide an earlier supply before the weapon is purchased from the traders.

Compared with a regular Throwing Knife, the Tomahawk deals greater damage from the outset and has the added use of a melee strike. It is therefore suited to quick kills at throwing range and remains useful when a target comes too close to throw at safely. A tomahawk lodged in a target can be picked up after the target dies.
