Benedict Allbright est un vendeur américain d'huile de serpent opérant dans New Hanover. Il parcourt l'État en vendant un prétendu remède miracle, bien que son médicament soit contrefait et accusé d'avoir causé des morts. Une prime de 50 $ est placée sur sa tête, à condition qu'il soit ramené vivant. Après qu'Uncle a dit à Arthur Morgan que du travail de chasseur de primes est disponible à Valentine, Arthur récupère l'avis de recherche d'Allbright au bureau du shérif. Sheriff Malloy identifie l'homme recherché et envoie Arthur à sa poursuite.
Arthur trouve Allbright près d'un feu de camp, sur une petite falaise dominant la Dakota River à Cumberland Falls. Conscient du danger, Allbright dissimule son nom quand Arthur s'approche. Arthur prétend que sa mère est malade et demande à acheter le remède. Allbright entame avec empressement les négociations, confirmant son identité, puis Arthur dégaine son arme et lui ordonne de se rendre. Allbright nie tout acte répréhensible et menace de se jeter de la falaise. Il perd pied, et Arthur le rattrape avant qu'il ne tombe sur les rochers en contrebas.
Après l'avoir remonté, Allbright continue de protester et saute dans la Dakota River. Le courant l'emporte rapidement, et il appelle Arthur à l'aide. Arthur suit la rive, sort Allbright de l'eau et l'attache. Il ramène le prisonnier à Valentine et le remet à Sheriff Malloy. Allbright est placé dans la prison de la ville, où il reste incarcéré au moins jusqu'en 1907.
Anecdotes
- ◆If Benedict is looted after being captured, Arthur will receive a bottle of miracle cure. Ironically, it is perfectly safe for him to consume.
- ◆If the player returns to the sheriff's office after the mission, Allbright will be sitting in his cell, and will sometimes curse the player for capturing him.
- ◆If the Killer Prostitute is arrested, Allbright will be moved to the other cell.
- ◆If the player goes to the red portion of the West Elizabeth's map with Allbright stowed on horseback, the whole area except Blackwater will be free to explore without any Pinkertons spawning. However, exploration into New Austin remains impossible, as the invisible sniper will still kill the player if they try to enter the territory.
- ◆During the Chapter 5 mission "Dear Uncle Tacitus", if the player heads to the saloon, they can see Allbright's poster on the wall, having replaced the one of Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister.
- ◆Another poster for Benedict can be found in the back room of the Valentine Doctor's Office, though it states he can be found frequenting the Valentine Oilfields. This is likely an earlier version of his bounty poster, as the very similar cut character Doc Wormwood was originally supposed to be found at the same location. Co-ordinates in the files show his original mission location near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar and animations suggest he was going to trip over a chicken crate.
- ◆After re-visiting the Valentine Sheriff's Office after capturing Allbright, Sheriff Malloy will tell the player that "Allbright was cursing them till his last" which suggests that Benedict was originally intended to be seen being hanged, however this cannot be seen. There also appears to be animations for the sheriff giving a speech at Allbright's hanging, further suggesting that this is the case.
