Arthur Morgan atteint le refuge de la bande à Lakay et y est accueilli après le désastre de Saint Denis. Sadie Adler lui apprend que John Marston a été capturé après le braquage de la banque et envoyé à Sisika Penitentiary, où il est détenu avec un groupe de forçats enchaînés. Les autres donnent à Arthur à manger et à boire tandis qu'il retrouve ceux qui ont réussi à s'échapper.
Plus tard, Micah Bell et Javier Escuella arrivent, suivis de Dutch van der Linde. Leopold Strauss attribue à Sadie le mérite d'avoir aidé la bande à survivre pendant l'absence d'Arthur et Dutch. Abigail Roberts explique que Hosea Matthews et Lenny Summers ont été récupérés à la morgue puis enterrés. Bill Williamson arrive ensuite, furieux d'avoir dû se renseigner pour trouver la bande.
Les retrouvailles prennent fin lorsqu'Agent Milton et les Pinkertons encerclent Lakay et ordonnent à la bande de se rendre. Milton ouvre le feu avec une mitrailleuse. Arthur suit Sadie à travers une trappe située sous un autre bâtiment et ressort derrière les assaillants tandis que les Pinkertons incendient le village. Avec l'aide de Bill, ils se frayent un chemin à travers le village jusqu'à ce qu'Arthur prenne le contrôle de la mitrailleuse ennemie et repousse les Pinkertons.
Après l'attaque, Dutch remercie Arthur et remarque que sa toux s'aggrave, mais Arthur l'écarte. Pressé de parler de John, Dutch affirme qu'un sauvetage devra attendre malgré la crainte d'Abigail que John soit pendu. Abigail demande alors à Arthur et Sadie d'agir à sa place. Ils acceptent de libérer John, et Sadie dit qu'elle préparera un plan avant qu'Arthur ne la rejoigne à Saint Denis. Arthur reste avec la bande à Lakay.
Anecdotes
- ◆Although this mission takes place at a hideout, Mary-Beth Gaskill, Karen Jones and Jack Marston are absent. They are unlikely to be on the floor above, due to it being such a small space, unless they are all huddled in the corner that cannot be seen. It's impossible to tell since the ladders are not usable. As they aren't seen in a cutscene either, is possible that Mary-Beth, Karen and Jack were out of camp during the mission shopping or scouting.
- ◆Molly O'Shea and Josiah Trelawny are also absent, though this is presumably intentional due to Molly having been drinking in Saint Denis and Trelawny usually traveling away from the gang.
- ◆At the end of the mission, Micah can be seen subtly killing an injured Pinkerton agent with a knife. Given how Micah is later revealed as the Pinkertons' informant who almost certainly gave the Pinkertons the location of the hideout, it is likely that he did so in order to stop the Pinkerton from revealing anything.
- ◆If the player alerts the Pinkertons before going through the trapdoor of the other house with Sadie, Dutch will shout for Bill and Micah to "get out there and help them", and their markers on the mini map can be seen going out to fight. Despite this, the mission fails immediately afterwards.
- ◆Dead Eye Targeting's fatal region highlights unlock when Arthur initiates combat.
- ◆Arthur's eyes become swollen following this mission, a sign of his tuberculosis. They remain like this for the rest of his playthrough.
- ◆In the gameplay trailer, Arthur has a more healthy appearance rather than a sick and underweight appearance. This was presumably done to avoid any spoilers.
